Chapter 1 - Prologue

Despite the monsters roaring and the thunderous lightning tearing the sky apart, the first cry of the baby echoed throughout the cabin. As if the baby girl wanted to announce her presence into the world. In contrast to the fiery eyed and cold hearted monsters baring teeth at each other outside, the cabin was filled with warmth.

She looked closely at the tiny poodle in her arms staring back at her from the tiny slits of her eyes. She looked up at her husband who was looking at his daughter with an amused look in his eyes. She couldn't help but notice the similarity between them.

"What do you want to name her, Victor" She asked him in hushed silence.

"Audra, Princess Audra" without removing his eyes from his daughter he replied.

"Nice name "a heavy voice boomed through the cabin and they looked up to see her brother stand there in his armor and a sword hanging by his side, he was slightly wet from the shower pouring outside.

"Sebastian" She smiled at her brother. "take a look at her"

He took a cautious step towards his niece looking at the smiling baby from afar. "She has your mother's eyes" he commented.

A silence prevailed over his comment as they all observed the little creature.

"speaking of which Idalia, you need to leave now" he grabbed their attention. "your mother is outside with her army, father is trying to stop her but I doubt she will stop."

"I will prepare the ride" Victor announced.

"Wait" Idalia grabbed his hand stopping him in his track. "I would like to meet my mother before I leave"

"NO" Both the men blurted in unison.

"Please" She squeezed Victor's hand as she pleaded her brother. "I would leave I promise but I want to see her once. Just one more time I want to talk to her" She knew her words had an effect on both of them, they couldn't deny her wishes.

"I'll ask father" Sebastian sighed giving up into her sister's requests.

"I will prepare the carriage till then and we leave soon after" Victor gave her a look making sure she stayed true to her words and she nodded in response.

Pressing a kiss on his wife's forehead and taking one last look at his daughter Victor leaped out of the window into the storm.

Sebastian left the cabin to find their Father standing with his brother Carter and their entire army facing Queen Orianne - Idalia's mother - and her army. All of them ready to tear each other apart.

"Let me through Harrison" The Queen hissed at his father. "Let me see my daughter"

"Your daughter" King Harrison chuckled, sarcasm lacing his words. "And when did you even once act like her mother" He questioned attacking her with words. The tension was thickening in the air. "I would not let you harm my daughter more than you have."

"Whatever you say Harrison you cannot deny that she too is my daughter. And I am warning you one last time move out of my way before I can't control my army from attacking anymore" She threatened her grey colored eyes that resembled Audra's starting to glow, hues of blue appearing in them.

"Your Majesty" Sebastian called to his father as all eyes landed upon him. "Idalia wishes to meet her mother"

Queen Orianne scoffed at his father. "What did I tell you?"

"But you would only enter alone and if you dare to touch my sister I would make sure you regret your entire existence" Carter declared standing in front of her.

"Use your threats elsewhere" Glaring at him she pushed him out of her way as the armies parted to let her through. She entered the cabin followed by King Harrison and Idalia's brothers.

Idalia looked up to see her mother at the entrance and unconsciously pressed her daughter even more closer to herself. "Hi mother" she gave her a tired smile.

"Maybe now you would realize whatever I did for you was for your benefit"

"and I can't even count how many times I have wanted to believe you" Her smile didn't waver as Idaila countered her mother but she was sure even Audra could feel her heart ready to jump out of her throat. Ignoring the drumming she continued. "you did all of it for your kingdom. "she pushed the bile down her throat constricting her. "not even once did you check up on me to ask me if I wanted all of that. Not once did you act like my mother you were always a queen."

"I wanted you to become a queen" Orianne defended herself.

"So I wanted to see you today and tell you that I would never be you and treat my daughter like you did to me. I am thankful for what you did but I just wish you were really there for me" by now tears filled her eyes. And the sky having witnessed it all, too cried in unison, silence prevailed no more thunders.

"That's enough" her mother walked towards her until she stopped by the end of the bed. Her brothers alerted but stopped in their tracks at their fathers one motion. "I have spent all my life protecting that kingdom and I don't regret anything that I did. And I won't allow that daughter of yours" she pointed at Audra who too now wailed as if feeling all the emotions of her mother. "I won't allow her to destroy this all"

"You are doing it again" Idalia screamed and Audra cried even louder. "you are again being selfish. You too believe in that stupid prediction…"

"yes I do "she cut her off putting a hand on her daughter's feet.

The world seized for a second the raindrops froze midair until a loud thunder shook the world. Idalia was gone and so was Audra. Ice crystals laid on the bed now where a few seconds before Idalia sat. Shocking silence took over the cabin.

The cabin door was pushed open and Victor entered expecting to see his family. He registered the situation. Realization hit him like a rock. He leaped towards Orianne. "YOU MONSTER!!!"

Before he even had a chance to catch her she too vanished with one sentence.

"fire and ice should have never been merged together"

Victor fell to his knees. His heart was shattered his family was gone.

"I am going to kill her" Carter marched outside his anger reaching the roof. But Orianne was gone.

"Why did you stop us?" Sebastian questioned his father who still stared at the spot where Queen Orianne stood.

"I was fooled once again." He couldn't even look back at his sons or even his son in law. "I should have finished her when I had the chance"

"why didn't you?"

Victor whispered.

"I couldn't hurt my daughter. She was her mother after all"

"No" victor shook his head. "she is only a monster."

It wasn't only their loss. It was the loss of the entire Kingdom. The fallen kingdom had once again lost its hope with it's princesses.
