Chapter 7 - The Murk - 5

"I believe he has a good probability of achieving the fabled rank 6; brother, don't you think so? It took years of preparation for us to progress to rank 5. But, him, he only needed a few hours to advance to rank 4. That is more than what a genius could accomplish. " While he kept dumping more resources for Ubel, Jang remarked in an enthusiastic tone.

"That could actually be the case, and that would be the only way he could survive the disaster that brought us here in the first place. But in this instance, reaching Rank 6 is practically impossible. We don't know what it takes to get to that rank to help his insights, nor do we have enough resources to help him grow that strong. Nobody—not even Father or Mother—could reach such a realm, for a reason." Jing sighed and shook his head in response.

Unbeknownst to Ubel, while his comprehension was terrific, it wasn't enough to to push him to Rank 4 in a matter of hours.

Naturally, the two—Jang and Jing—had a hand in it. Jing was storing some of his previously gained insights in the surrounding, while Jang was putting them in the resources that Ubel absorbs. As such, his level of comprehension improved remarkably.

The passage of time continued. Unbeknownst to them, it had already been several days. In the real world, three and a half hours passed, while twenty thousand minutes passed in the Space-time formation.

Ubel was a Rank 5 Supernatural at the time. It was difficult to advance to Rank 6.

He naturally knew how to do it, but he refused to do so for the time being. After all, while he was deep in immersion with the attribute, the System sent him a notification that jolted him awake...

==

[The system advises the host to stop right now. The one who brought the world to this point is only a Rank 6 supernatural. If you became one, and had the same attribute as he did, you would automatically complete the mission. However, this would result in a much more chaotic world. Furthermore, the resources and insight contained within such a small tube would be insufficient to advance to Rank 6, leaving you entangled between Ranks 5 and 6. The threshold for advancement had already been met. All that is lacking are high-quality resources.]

As such, Ubel abruptly ended his immersion. He didn't trust the systems based on his knowledge of the novels, but the current one wouldn't harm him. Or couldn't, to be exact.

It was because it was linked to his soul. If anything happened to him, the same thing would happen to it.

After all, it was a separate entity inhabiting his mind space. The contract signed in the MMC clarified that an assistant linked to him with basic knowledge of the worlds would assist with world information, etc.

As a byproduct, any harm done to him if he failed a mission or suffered irreparable harm to his soul would be linked to the system as well.

However, having the system level up was not always a bad thing. If it continues to evolve, it may even develop a body. But only if Ubel gave it some resources to advance.

Afterwards, Ubel opened his eyes as gratitude could be seen in them. He truly didn't expect reaching the peak—of these two realities—in a matter of minutes, before the main plot even advanced.

But that would make him always free from danger. At least if the artifact holder didn't interfere. But even then, he could escape unharmed with his various methods.

He looked at Jing and Jang, nodded at them as he waved his hand, "Sorry for the previous talk. You can't blame someone for saying such things abruptly—at 7 in the morning— would you? It would either seem as you're high or a crazy mortal. But now, as I'm possessing strength similar to yours, I presume what you said is correct."

Jing and Jang looked at each other and nodded. Before they could say anything, Ubel stopped them as he continued, "I know that you're helping me for a reason. When there's an effect, there's a cause. I would help repay this in the future, if we were to meet again. I know for sure that you wouldn't say anything, currently. So, if you were planning on leaving and not saying anything, just do so. We'll meet again in the future anyway."

Ubel wasn't lying when he said they would meet. They were his sons, after all. And due to the 'cause' of him reaching his current strength, the 'effect' would be the future them, in this timeline, having to go back in time once more to provide Ubel with resources.

Then again, without a 'previous Ubel' that just acquired his strength, there wouldn't be a future one.

Such thing was the Cause & Effect Law. It was a fundemantal law of every world. And only by not being affected by it can one be considered as a Transcendent.

Which was naturally impossible, in any worlds. Unless there were 'mission takers' such as Ubel, who were with the MMC, and not linked to any world.

But even then, it requires tremendous amount of energies, and resources to be one. The reward would be equally as bountiful as its difficulty.

The two—Jang and Jing—looked at each other in shock, as if they couldn't believe it.

Such wisdom wasn't possible to be in a 17 year old mortal. But after peering into the world's elements and even controlling an attribute, one's entire temperament would change.

"So that's why Father and Mother are the way they are in the future." Jing and Jang looked at each other, nodded. Without saying anything further, they disappeared into some space to recuperate their strength...
