Damon's P.O.V
Will stares at me, eyes glued to mine as she stops narrowing them for a moment. We both stare at one another, my entire body frozen in its place as I watch for her reaction. Her bites her lip first, tilting her head gently as her eyes narrow once more. She studies me for a moment longer before opening her mouth, yet no words come out. She clears her throat, blinking rapidly before trying again.
"You're not laughing so I guess you're not lying." She says noddingly gently to herself as she swallows. "Are you being serious? Because now isn't the time to really joke about things."
"I'm serious Will," I confirm, glancing down to our hands when her tight grip on them loosened a fraction. Panic tries to set up camp but I stop it quickly, convincing myself that her not pulling them away was a good sign.
Will nods again, the movement slowing down as the words visibly sink in. She stops then, eyes studying me once more as her mouth parts and closes before she finally speaks again.
"You're saying that you are a werewolf." She repeats out loud. "An actual werewolf."
"Yes," I confirm, watching her closely. Not able to tell if she was in shock or just trying to take it in.
She nods again before chuckling gently.
"A werewolf? Like a wolf?" She questions again and I nod. "Do you mind showing me something that confirms that you are actually a werewolf?" She asks almost guiltily. "It's just that you're saying that you are something from movies and stories, so I just need to see something that proves that you're actually telling the truth."
She is taking this disturbingly well... - Theo whispers softly as if any louder would set off the explosion we'd expected from our mate.
I know, it's kind of freaking me out - I admit as Will waits for my response. What can I show her that will scare her the least?
Shifting is a hard pass - Theo replies immediately. The talons usually freak people out, I mean they're kind of gross. She's already seen the glowing eyes a couple of times and hasn't reacted to that so that leaves the canines. Try and not let them drop too far down.
"Okay," I say, finally answering Will making her nod slowly.
I let my canines drop slowly, trying my hardest to not let them drop too far as Will watches. Her face slowly drains of color as she watches, lips parting as her wide eyes stay fixated on my teeth.
"You weren't kidding." She breathes out, I quickly redrew them to bring her attention from the pointy things. "You weren't kidding... you're actually a.."
She doesn't finish her sentence as if unable to get the words out.
"A-A werewolf..." She manages after several attempts.
I nod slowly, not moving any closer no matter how desperately I needed to. I knew right now I had to be very careful with her, especially with not knowing exactly where she stood quite yet.
"M-My eyes glow as well, usually when I feel strong emotions or I've shifted," I reveal making her eyes pull away from my normal teeth and back up to me. "They get brighter like a light is behind them," I explain, trying to explain in a way that was understandable for her.
"I always thought that was just my eyes or something." She admits mindlessly, her blank eyes staring at my eyes which I make glow in a demonstration. "Oh... wow, okay. Um... okay."
"You're taking this a lot better than I thought you would," I admit as I return my gaze to their natural state.
"Am I?" She questions, voicing growing high at the end. "Because it doesn't really feel like that inside."
I watch helplessly as her breathing speeds up, her heart thumping desperately as her gaze darts around my face. She doesn't focus on any part of me for too long, as if trying to pinpoint all of me, equating what she was hearing to what she was seeing.
"You're panicking," I state and she nods.
"Is it that obvious?" She asks through her short gasps for air.
"Well, I can hear your heart racing," I reply honestly which only seems to speed the damn thing up.
"You can hear my heart?" She asks breathlessly and I nod.
"Do you want some water or something?" I offer beginning to panic myself. "Should I move away?"
"A werewolf," Will repeats mindlessly as if not hearing my words. "A werewolf, my boyfriend is a werewolf." She repeats, my mind immediately draws in on the last part as I smile widely and move closer to her.
"I'm your boyfriend?" I ask quickly, unable to hide my excitement as Theo practically salivates at the prospect.
Will's eyes dart up to me, wide and panicked only to grow even larger when she realizes her own words. She closes her eyes and slams a palm over her face, releasing a long groan that makes me deflate as all the hope pours out of me.
"I'm not?" I ask again, Theo whines miserably in my head as my body sags with sudden misery. I hadn't known I wanted Will to be my girlriend until she said it, to me, mates were all that mattered and nothing else. But the boy/girlfriend title was important to humans and I wanted to be important to Will.
Will peaks at me through her fingers, dropping her hand back to mine as she offers me a smile.
"We are or at least, I w-wanted us to be." She explains I frown immediately at the use of the word wanted but she scrambles to explain. "I wanted to ask you when things settled between us, I had this whole day planned for the two of us. I wanted to make it special when I asked you, like how you made our first date special. But I got ahead of myself and spit it out."
She sags as I had a few moments ago, body drowning in defeat while mine perked up, her words rejuvenating me within a heartbeat. Unable to hold myself back for shit, I tackle her sending us crashing onto the rest of the couch. She releases a deformed squeal of surprise as I take her down with me, kissing her neck happily, focusing on the space I'd mark soon enough.
