It is said that falling in love with someone can sometimes be the source of your downfall.
Something similar was happening under Mahendra Pratap, and he was well aware that the princess he had developed feelings for was none other than the wife of his special friend, King Bhimsen.
But his vicious mind was only interested in making Padmini his own and began planning a new conspiracy.
It was 2 a.m., and Mahendra Pratap decided to leave Bhimsen's kingdom in the middle of the night without saying anything. Thinking that his friendship with Bhimsen should not be ruined, he wrote a letter in Bhimsen's name and left without informing anyone.
When the gatekeepers at the palace's front door inquired as to why Mahendra Pratap was leaving on such a night, he ordered the door to be opened without delay and then left.
Even the gatekeepers were unable to question Mahendra Pratap.
Because he was aware that this emperor was a close friend of Bhimsen.
The sun was reddened in the sky in the early morning... the sound of birds began to reverberate everywhere, and cool cold air began to enter Emperor Bhimsen's room through the windows.
But the prince was still in a deep sleep, oblivious to the fact that the night had passed and the day had arrived.
Suddenly, A small bird flew in and sat on the window of his room, trying to rouse the emperor with his melodious voice.
After some effort, the emperor awoke from his trance, and when he opened his eyes, his gaze was drawn to the bird, which was crippling. With a smile, the emperor rose from his bed and approached the little bird, extending one hand towards him, and the bird fluttered its wings. He took flight and landed in Bhimsen's hands.
"So little birds, you have come to wake me up, thank you very much," the emperor laughed.
And the bird took off.
Emperor showered and went to breakfast. Where all of his royal family members were present. He did not find his friend Mahendra Pratap there and left a message for the servants to call him.
When the servants returned alone after sending the message, Bhimsen became concerned and got up from his chair to question them.
"What occurred? What happened to Mahendra Pratap? Is he all right?"
"Maharaj, we saw in his room, oh he was not present there, and then we looked around the palace, and even then he did not meet us, we learned from the gatekeepers, and then we learned that he had left here late at night."
Emperor Bhimsen was taken aback because Mahendra Pratap had never done this before today; he did not leave the palace without saying anything, but suddenly, the idea of him leaving late at night struck Emperor Bhimsen as odd.
Bhimsen went to his room to see Mahendra Pratap because he did not believe the servants' assertions.
First, he called out to Mahendra Pratap, but he did not respond. Next, he noticed a page that had been placed on the table and was poised to fly because of the strong wind.
That piece of paper was a letter that Mahendra Pratap had written when Bhimsen found it.
"Emperor Bhimsen, my dear friend
I apologise for leaving this night without telling you.
I am going to my state Arabia, there has suddenly been some turmoil, that's why I must go now and at this time. But don't you worry, I will fix everything alone. You don't need to come here.
You make preparations for your marriage, I will meet you in your marriage after two days and I also had to take a special gift for you, nor did I have to go that's why.
I hope you will agree with my words.
your friend
Mahendra Pratap"
