Finally, Shanaya can breathe a sigh of relief when they all leave the yard. It's just that now he feels that the village is not as safe as he thought. He was afraid that they would come back another night. However, hopefully, it's just a temporary scare for Shanaya. "Maybe I should tell Erland about this." Shanaya then closed the door and locked it. He closed the curtains tightly and hoped they wouldn't come back. Shanaya staggered towards the kitchen. He washed his face in the sink and looked at himself in the mirror. Then he nodded and took a deep breath. The feeling is now unbearable. Shanaya decides to return to the room. But as he climbed the stairs, he heard a rustling sound outside. He paused to confirm if it was just the sound of dry branches being swept away by the wind or that someone else was beside his house. Shanaya's courage seems to have waned a while ago. He didn't dare check back into the door or just look at the window. All he did was continue his steps up to the room - quickly, even seemed to run.
Until the room, Shanaya closed the door and locked it. He remained silent behind the door while catching his ragged breathing.
"Hopefully it's just the wind! Please don't bother me anymore." Shanaya was silent while continuing to listen to the possibly unusual sounds around her house.
"There's no way they'd come back here, right?" Slowly he approached the window, inspecting every corner of the yard. Lonely. There's no one out there. Finally, he could breathe a sigh of relief and sat back down on the sofa by the window. Sipping coffee that is cold, and no longer tastes good. Only liquid entered his throat without him being able to feel the aroma and taste as he usually does when enjoying coffee. Shanaya leaned back, staring outside where the night was beginning to be shrouded in a light mist. The air began to feel cold, until finally the feeling of relief he had just felt suddenly disappeared.
Shanaya leaned closer to the window, making sure what she saw was real. The scarecrow he had been staring at had now changed position again. No longer standing upright in place, but squatting, like a crawling position. Strange.
"Did they also work on the scarecrow and make it change position again?"
"I'd better get some sleep!" Shanaya closes the curtains in the room. She forgot the cold pancakes and climbed into bed. He pulled the blanket up to his neck. He closed his eyes and hoped that morning would come soon. He wanted to immediately meet Erland to complain about tonight's events. Because only Erland he knew in this village.

Shanaya's brow throbbed. He felt a nagging pain in his head. All as a result of his difficulty sleeping last night. He is a person who is paranoid about trivial things. Something that feels disturbing will make him keep thinking about it even to the point of making it difficult for him to sleep. The smell of black coffee will be a cure for headaches. He deliberately made the coffee more concentrated than before, so that the effects of the caffeine would immediately be felt in his body.
Shanaya, who had just been sitting in a chair, was now forced to move back when she heard a knock on the door. Erland's voice followed shortly after. Shanaya rushed to the front, she opened the curtains to make sure that it was Erland before she opened the door. Erland was seen smiling behind the window as soon as Shayana appeared.
"Good morning, Nay," Erland greeted kindly. Shanaya just smiled faintly and invited her inside.
"How was your sleep? Good?"
"Um, looks like it didn't go according to plan," said Shanaya, pressing the nape of her neck.
"What the hell happened? Did someone sneak in?" Erland asked, looking around.
"How do you know? Do they often do that to other citizens?" Shanaya then sat on a chair where the coffee she made was still steaming.
"They?" Erland asked back, pulling another chair near the girl.
"Yes, they are. Those country boys. I'm sure they were the ones I met when I came here. They're awful. Drunk and almost broke into the house, if only I hadn't shown my rifle last night." Erland seemed to have just realized where Shanaya was talking this time.
"Oh, them? Don't worry, Ronald and his friends are just having fun. They won't dare go far."
"Is that so? I don't think that's what I saw. They almost broke into my house, Erland."
"Okay. I'll meet them later so they stop bothering you. Is that so?" Erland asked, trying to calm Shanaya down. The young man saw how messed up the girl in front of him was, the dark circles under his eyes showed that Shanaya didn't get enough sleep last night.
"You know them? Oh, well, I forgot that all the residents know each other," Shanaya said sarcastically.
"Well, it is. But Ronal lives near my house, so I can advise him later. Well, don't think too much about it. Oh yeah, I've brought some fertilizer and seeds from home. You better have breakfast first, Nay."
"Wow, thanks. Alright, I'll make breakfast first. Would you like some?"
"Um, I just want some coffee."
"Well."
They started the work by uprooting all the dry plants as well as weeds in the fields. Working with Erland makes Shanaya not feel tired, because Erland is very cheerful, and often makes jokes so that both of them keep laughing. It doesn't feel like the whole field is clean of grass and dry corn plants. Erland also helped make irrigation the first step to improving the field. Erland was still busy with his work, while Shanaya had just finished making lunch. He took some of the food outside. Deliberately spread out the mat and make this lunch different.
"Erland, let's eat first," shouted Shanaya while waving at the young man. Erland waved back from a distance. "All right. Just a little more, okay. Don't finish the food! Just watch out!" threatened Erland with a big smile.
"If you take too long, I will make sure there's nothing left here for you," Shanaya replied, showing her white teeth. Her pure white face is now starting to look a little tan after hours of drying in the sun. The hat she was wearing wouldn't have protected her face enough from the sun, but Shanaya looked very happy. While looking at Erland who was still finishing work, Shanaya looked back at the scarecrow which was now very clearly visible from where she was sitting. The thing is now back in its original position because it was repaired by Erland. Suddenly the girl smelled a bad smell. It was faint but Shanaya was sure that what she smelled was a bad smell. He moved his nose and looked for the unpleasant smell that bothered him. "Hey! Why is your face like that?" asked Erland who immediately sat beside him while sipping the water that Shanaya had prepared.
"You smell this scent?" Shanaya asked, still in the same motion.
"What scent?"
"Rotten. It smells like carrion. Don't you smell it?" asked Shanaya who was astonished at Erland looking unperturbed. But suddenly Erland choked when Shanaya explained what had been troubling him for a long time.
