In the apartment, we cook together. Luckily Elsa had fallen asleep after washing and breastfeeding my child. Gilbert didn't talk as much as before. I can guess that this is because of Laura's presence or maybe actually the guy hasn't been able to forget his ex. I glanced at the man who was busy cutting peppers in silence without looking at me at all.
I looked down trying to see his face. He turned and raised an eyebrow.
"What happened to you?" asked Gilbert.
"Just making sure you're okay," I said.
"Come on, I'm not as pathetic as you say," he dodged without looking at me. "The past is the past, Em. If that's what Laura thinks, then it's wrong. I'm not thinking about it."
"But, your eyes don't lie."
He fell silent feeling tertohoh by my words.
"You're wrong Em."
"How so? Since you've been quiet from the supermarket, Gilbert, doesn't that make things clear?"
