"I-I didn't go alone" My mouth automatically moved, I feared for the people he intended to blind when he got down to business. He said nothing, waiting for me to continue and so I did. "I'm serious I didn't, I can't go to a party alone"
He knew me too well for that.
"Go on"
I gulped. "The party went as usual as any would, at least what I heard about it. There was a lot of dancing..." I leveled my eyes. "Drinking..." I add licking my lips. I suddenly felt like a kid under the watchful eyes of a parent. "It just went on and on and then..." I raised my gaze and I'm certain he could tell that was the only thing I remembered.
"Who did you go with?"
"My roommate Tessa"
He narrowed his eyes, nodding. "I know you can't lie to me, baby girl"
"I'm not," I said softly.
He leaned away and I missed the closeness but I kept a brave face not to show it. "Samuel told me you went to this party alone"
"I didn't!"
