I noticed Dace's muscles flexed. "I will tell her myself" he spoke through clenched teeth.

"Of course, forgive my rudeness, Emma"
"I-I understand, you don't like humans and I'm… I'm a human dating your son, it's not something that should be taken lightly. It's an edge of a blade" I spoke more than I intended to, maybe it was because I felt like melting in my seat.
And then a pearl of laugh burst off him, Emilia snorted a laugh.
"Emilia!" her mom snapped at her.
"What? She's funny" her eyes darted to mine. "And I think she's growing on me"
"You're an interesting young lady, one who understands the situation quite well, and yet you still dine with us" he tilts his head to his side. "Either you're wise or… naive"
"Maybe I'm naive…"
He narrowed his eyes on me.
"It's late, I will take you home" Dace spoke breaking the spell that had our eyes locked together.
