Supervisors were chosen carefully, with a focus on their loyalty to the empire and their ability to command respect from those they supervised. They were given wide-ranging authority to make decisions regarding the individuals under their command and were held responsible for any actions taken by those individuals.
Those assigned to a supervisor were expected to obey their orders without question, and failure to do so could result in severe consequences. However, the supervisors were also tasked with looking out for the well-being of their targets, ensuring that they were properly trained and equipped for their tasks, and providing them with support and guidance as needed.
Having a supervisor was both beneficial and restraining.
