The knocks discontinued and I heard her footsteps withdraw from my door. Growing distant. I let out a deep breath and channeled my focus on Kenny who had questions in his eyes. "You are not going open the door for her?"
"I almost ended her life today, Kenny." I said. "People get hurt because of me, I put them in danger. Kenny, I'm the problem, not the people."
He lifted a brow and threw me an odd look. "You are not the problem," he prompted after a minute of silence. "Don't blame yourself for other people's predicament. Toro, you are you and that's what matters."
"Yes, she almost got herself killed but you didn't put her life in danger nor did you made her do it? As a good neighbor, she saved your ass by risking her life. Man, I got to say I admire her courage."
"I'm talking about her life, Kenny. Why would she do that? She knows she's asthmatic yet she did it."
