Chapter 3 - Stranger from elsewhere

"So you finally had a different dream... or maybe a nightmare", Sheron said. "Doesn't it sound like a prophecy or something?"

I hardly believed in these superstitions and moreover a 'Prophecy' seemed really mediocre. I didn't want the night to come, since I dreamt of that cat, I couldn't bring myself to sleep, I was scared of experiencing the same thing again. "Why don't you go to Dr. Helen? She seems to understand these kinds of things more than anyone, perhaps she might be able to unsolve the mystery of your dreams." Dr. Helen was our family psychologist whom I met at the age of eight. Although she has been monitoring me for a long time but she had always faced failure in diagnosing my disorder, and this time too I wasn't sure if she would be able to identify my mental cause. "I need to find that cat". I told Sheron. "You serious? we aren't even sure if the cat is real or just your imagination."

I couldn't find any other solution and I just had a gut feeling that all those dreams were related to the black furred animal. After school I headed back to home searching the cat along the neighborhood streets. I found nothing except some rodents, at the end of the day I didn't have the solution with me. I was dreadfully exhausted and hungry, during these kind of situations I usually craved for my mother's homemade soup but there was still time for her return from our shop. I walked up to my room, threw myself on the bed and in a blink I was in deep sleep.

Someone called,"ZEE! ZEE WAKE UP!" "Mother...?" I was still half sleep when she called me. "It's morning dear and why didn't you change your clothes after school?" I was confused, "the dream... it didn't occur. My mother asked the reason for my sudden change of mood and I exclaimed that I didn't dream of that apparition, it happened for the first time. My mother was shocked, were the modern medicines were finally showing their effects. I just could not believe it. The following night and the nights after, for a whole one week, my mind was free of those nightmares.

I carried on with my new life, no morning headaches, no shadows, I began to dream like a normal person. Somehow it brought a lot of changes to my personality, I became a bit talkative though I still mined my own business, obviously Sheron was the first one who noticed the changes and for Lee, well he found me in my usual self. At that time, I felt like a normal high school student who would complete her graduation and then apply for a prestigious college, get a job and live the normal.

That day at home, I was in bed, thinking about the various things I could do and perform. All that planning really excited me, suddenly a clink sound distracted me. I thought someone might be drunk and breaking the glass bottle and so I ignored. then there was continuous series of tinkling. I sat up, beads of fear were running down my face, where was this voice coming from.

And I looked to my right, it was as if a mirror was placed between my bed and the door, I looked behind the mirror , everything was normal. but from the front, the mirror kept breaking with increasing shrilling sound. I was deadly terrified, the happening was out of this world. Soon a bright light came from the cracks which illuminated the entire room. The light was so intense that it made my eyes shut and all of a sudden a footstep sound....I tried to take a look, it was all blurry, "YOU REALLY ARE THE IGNORANT ONE", the person said.

I remembered that voice, that strange pattern of speaking, I focused on the person's face and soon I could see it all . he was THE GUY FROM MY DREAM !!!!

From that point onward one thing was clear..I had to say goodbye to my new normal life...
