Chapter 27 - A Glimpse Of The Dream

Smiling, Nyx came from behind and tried to pick Theia up, only to realize she wasn't there and for Isaac to swat his hand away with a growl. "Aw come on, can't ya be a little kinder after running me ragged?" Nyx slumped onto the blonde who only tried to shake his shoulders.

"Get off," Isaac ordered, only for Nyx to stare at him annoyed this time. "Didn't I tell ya to clean up before eatin'?" He accused, Isaac ignoring him like he did earlier in the forest and took to shutting his eyes while Nyx went and fetched him fresh clothes from their luggage, knowing that he wasn't going to get them himself.

Watching their exchange from her mother's lap, Theia couldn't help but feel a tiny bit bad for Nyx and his hard work. "The answer is no!" She heard, zoning back into the conversation at the table.

"It's just a little while, Klausse." The older twin interjected. Finally, a name to the boy she'd been calling third brother, but still a name she didn't remember much in the story.

Wiping her mouth with a napkin, Rosalyn smiled. "It's too late to decline, the tea party has been decided." Tucking her stray hair, she took to sipping her tea as the one called Klausse walked off angrily with the older twin following, passing Nyx on his way back handing Isaac a clean shirt and coat.

Putting the tea down the older girl turned towards Isaac mouthing something resembling a "you owe me" before excusing herself to mingle with other members of the family elsewhere. Although confused, her mother was just happy to be there.

With a warm tone and bright smile, she turned to Nyx. "Welcome back, Nyxie. Everyone else has gone ahead and eaten dinner, you should eat your's before it gets cold." jumping into his seat, Nyx dug into the meat with his fork and a look of bliss washed over his face now that he finally got to eat.

"Thank ya ahem thank you for waiting, Lady Cyrille. If I don't clean him up who will?" Her mother was actually dealing with the blood much better than she expected, considering he was once stabbed in the eye with a stick just weeks ago.

Watching her mother laugh, it felt like she was almost missing a part of an inside joke as her mother reminiscence. "He's grown so big already, just a while back he was constantly with ripped clothes and getting dirty." She recalled, a story Theia wanted to hear.

At some point her brother actually acted like a child? "I remember the one time we both came back with bruises on our cheeks and covered in each other's blood, that was the first time I'd ever seen Lady Cyrille angry at anyone." Nyx chuckled while downing his tea in seconds.

Standing up, Isaac offered a hand to his mother. "While he acts like an idiot that's never tasted a meal before, would you like to take a walk, mother?" Isaac asked, clearly trying to escape the embarrassing story the two might bring up while together.

"I'll take care of little eleventh while you're gone!" Nyx yelled to them with his mouth full, disrupting her tiny baby plans of hearing Isaac teased once more as she found herself in his lap, him nearly choking from eating too quickly. Her future was in the hands of a boy who couldn't even eat properly.

The rest of the night was rather uneventful, setting up camp where Isaac promptly told the other three to get lost, begrudgingly allowing Nyx to stay, she found herself being drifted to sleep again, this time not so much of pleasant thoughts.

She was back in the purple void, falling with constellations gathering around her, whirling past her ears and making loud noises, some sort of growls, her body seemed to be shrinking as well, from that to an older girl's to a younger's child's, no more than five years of age.

Her dress were loose and she could barely lift the heavy sleeves of her's, she tried to reach out in the middle of the empty void, anywhere, to latch onto to stop falling. As her eyes blurred with tears from the speed increasing, she found herself yelling out something unfamiliar to her. "Save your master."

Nothing happened for a few seconds before the growling exploded near her ear, but she was no longer falling and there were no longer any constellations whizzing past her, instead she found herself on the back of something with shinning silvery white fur, something familiar.

As the beast settled down the terrain changed once again in front of the lake, resting her down beside it but covering her eyes with its tail, hiding its appearance from her. "Who are you?" She asked, receiving no answer.

She realized she could speak fluently compared to a baby, and also realized that it was probably a stupid thing to ask an animal who they were. "Would you please move your tail away from my face?" She asked, only to be nearly suffocated by it as the beast pushed their tail into her further, almost as though annoyed by the questions.

Now completely muffled, she still tried to seek answers. "Is this a dream?" She asked, the tail pressed away slightly, allowing her to breathe easier but not answering. She took that as a good sign since she wasn't dying by its hands yet.

"Are you real?" She continued, only this time the tail did not move, it did not want to answer. She looked at her sleeved hands before closing her eyes, thinking momentarily.

Theia Argyris was never mentioned to have any weird dreams, nor was much mentioned about her other than being the "villainess" in the novel. It would of been great if the author did mention it, though. She couldn't pinpoint why she was having this dream tonight specifically after the first one being quite awhile ago, but associated it with something to do with Theia's magic, being a beast tamer.

"Will I see you one day?" She gave her final question as the beast lowered its tail, face turned to the side as she eagerly looked, unable to catch any features except ears reminiscent of a cat before the lake ground swallowed her up, forcing her out of her dream.

It was once again surreal and left her in tears as Isaac who kept watch immediately begun fretting over her, seeing her cry the first time in forever. She felt close to the animal and the warmth lingering on her body, but wondered just what it meant and if she'd ever actually see it.

On the other side of her dream rested a large beast, it's tail swayed back and forth while looking down from its spot amongst the constellations, knowing the time would be soon, as long as she made it that far, that is.
