Chapter 15 - The Boss and Ordering

Shutting her fan, he could see her green eyes staring into his, before he saw her put it away with a bright smile on her lips. "It's been awhile, Einsy. You've made your big sister worried," She tried to hug, only for him to back away further into his seat. "How cruel." She huffed.

"You're already fifty, not my sister." He responded as she took a seat, a laugh escaping her lips. "Sometimes you should flatter people." She said, going to the back of the small room and fetching two glasses and a bottle of wine. Pouring the two for herself, she sat on the couch opposite of him.

She took a sip and looked him up and down. "So the seventh had another child? You wouldn't willingly touch a child of another woman," she commented, finger running around the rim of her glass. "It also seems like you've got a bruise. Was it Damon who plucked your eye out?" She questioned.

Shaking his head, he put up with small talk. "My foolish fourth sister did. It's no problem, even if I went blind, I'll still be fine. She ended up under house arrest for being a fool." She laughed, clapping her hands at this, wishing she could of been there to hear her sentence.

"As for the child, she is indeed my younger sister," he said, gently resting her on his lap to show the woman. "Theia Argyris." She got serious again, drinking her wine and staring at the child in front of her.

She didn't look more than half a year old. "The tenth child was only named a year ago, right? How intriguing." She commented, surprised at how quickly she was named. Then again, she knew Isaac was named at nine months, perhaps she was the fastest to be named yet.

Nodding, he decided to get things started. "The Duke has his sights on using her or getting rid of her depending on her magic. I want poison." He didn't have to hide anything with her, she'd find out anyway.

Downing her first glass, she laughed. "Her magic?" She said aloud, more-so to herself. "Did you want to poison her to be useless?" She asked, he quickly shook his head and spat out a no.

"No, I want a poison that will leave someone paralyzed. Specifically, a poison identical to the one which is produced by the the Loritz family." The woman took out her fan again and slammed it against her hand, shutting her eyes.

"You really are awful, aren't you?" She asked him, smiling. "Alright I've figured out what you want, but it's going to cost quite a bit. I could replicate it, but it's going to take a little over a month." She pulled a note out of her coat, putting it in front of him.

Pulling out a coin pouch from his pocket, he placed fifteen gold coins on the table. "Neither of us knows anything." He said.

"Neither of us knows anything," she replied, watching him fill out his request while drinking her second cup. "Such a shame you didn't come to kill the Duke, though." She sighed and rubbed her temples, he only snickered.

With his one eye, he looked up at her and handed back the filled note. "I'm not cheap, his death will be by my own hands. Him dying by poison would be too kind for what he's done."

"That's right, you did mention that before." She replied, taking the note back and slipping it into her coat. She knew he was a lost cause child, but his plan this time was most certainly a capital charge. Well, it's not like the Argyris don't have those accusations as is, or that he likely didn't have one before.

Getting up, she opened the door for him and made her way to get another of wine, watching as he left. "Every Argyris really is crazy." She murmured.

Walking away, Isaac fixed his jacket and went back to where Nyx was, giving him a nod and walked past the coachman, heading to the next location. While Nyx was playing his part, he had to go to an actual jewelry store.

It's been awhile since he left, but everything seemed the same, including the fear of the people around him. He got a few stares directed at the baby in his arms, but he ignored it.

The jewelry store in question was not anything shady, in fact, it was possibly the best jewelry store in the city. "Young master Argyris!" one of the staff workers ran out immediately upon seeing him, giving a curt bow and dusting off his shirt. "Is there a reason for your visit?" He asked, nervously.

Nodding, he walked past the man and up to the counter. "I want three orders," the man behind the counter immediately piped up and nodded. "One necklace fit for the first daughter of the Argyris household, one bracelet fit for her as well, and the third is a ring that would fit the finger of a small child, or infant, with the Argyris crest embedded."

Hearing this, the man asked a question before Isaac could leave. "Right away, young master. Would you like to pick out the jewels?" He nearly scoffed at the thought, but paused for a moment. He didn't know much about how a person would like a jewel, other than it's monetary value.

"I'll choose the one for the ring." He declared, moving around to the display cases. Pink, purple, green, and even more of a variety of colors that sparkled brightly, making him doubt what he just said. He didn't care what kind of jewel would be fine for his first sister, he barely remembered what she looked like, but this was in fact for someone he did care about.

He took a long time that even the staff became nervous, wondering if they offended him with what they had on display. Finally, he stopped at a dark midnight blue ring, and chose that. It wasn't a huge rock, but something drew him in. "This one." He said pointing to it, the clerk nodded and immediately got to work filling out a form.

"One tanzanite ring embedded with the Argyris crest for an infant, one necklace for the first young lady of the Argyris family, and one bracelet for the first young lady of the Argyris family." He read off the order and Isaac nodded, taking his leave again.

He didn't have all the time in the world to spend picking out a ring that she would surely outgrow in a few months to a year, but he still found himself a little bit satisfied with the purchase. He hadn't recall giving her a gift before, nor the Duke mentioning he'd be getting a crest for her anytime soon, this was merely to ensure she'd be safe outside the house.

Walking down the road, he found Nyx running up to him, a small speck of blood on his cheek like he expected. "Did you do it?" He asked, the other boy nodding with a grin. "Course, was real simple."
