**Sree's pov**
**In the other room**
"So, what's your name?" I ask.
"Kiran. You're Sree right?"
"Yes… Look I'm not really interested in this wedding so.. when you go back ...please say you don't like me."
"Is it me? Do you not like me?" He asked.
"No...no it's not you… It's just that I'm not interested in weddings right now. I want to focus on my studies, get a job, and be independent.. You Know.."
"Look Sree… I really like you and that's what I'm telling them. Plus you don't need to study anymore or get a job. After marrying me, all you have to do is look after my parents, our children and our home. I make enough income for us to last a lifetime. There's no need for you to work. You just have to be a good wife, a good daughter in law and a good mother. You can go shopping in your free time añd do whatever the girls do."
"But what if I want to work, Kiran?
"Fine .. I'll allow yóu to work but if it gets in the way of you being a good wife, a good daughter in law and a good mother then I won't allow you to work."
I was livid. Who does this asshole think he is? How dare he 'allow me' to work? I went ballistic after his last sentence and slapped him hard across his face. I grabbed him by the arm and walked towards the living room.
**In the living room**
"So, what are you giving as dowry?" Kiran's father asked as I walked in with him.
"None." I replied coldly before my brother. "And you could get out with this son of yours before I throw you all out." I said coldly.
"Sree…" I held my hand up to stop my brother and gave everyone a piercing cold gaze. Now my brother understood something was definitely wrong. I never go against him.. only if I'm that livid like right now.
"I repeat, get out of my house on your own before I kick you all out." My tone is as cold as ever.
"Uh...this is what happens when parents don't bring their children up properly. Sree don't you know how to talk to your elders. What kind of a shitty upbringing did you have?" Kiran's mother asked.
I lost all my control then. I walked up to her and slapped her hard across her face. "My parents were amazing when they were alive. After they left this world, my brother took it upon himself to ensure I have a good upbringing. He was my parents, brother and my best friend. Don't you dare talk about my upbringing. I had a better upbringing than your son. This is the 21st century and your son dare treat me as his property?! Did he think that he had the right to 'allow me' to work? To 'allow me' to work? Who the hell is he to do that? I'm not his slave. I don't need his permission to work and on top of that you dare talk to ask for dowry? Don't you know that it's against the law? As for respect, why should I respect a filthy douche bag like your son? You and your son are disgusting. How dare you come into my house and demand like you own this place?" I shout in anger. I have no control now. "Now get out before I call the police. I better not see any of you again."
I was livid. I was able to control my anger till she talked about my parents. That was my bottom line. I saw red after that.
