Cain and Meylin had taken a very short amount of time to reach their current level—less than thirty-five years—but they did not delude themselves into thinking that the path ahead would be linear. After all, there had not been an instance of a Void Eclipse life form reaching the Third Realm in the Helix Continent in the last five hundred thousand years, making it clear how hard the path forward was.
