Chapter 1 - Murdoch's fall

On a high street that was looking slightly dilapidated with windows blocked up with cork and graffitit scrawled across the walls.

shutters were pulled down and shops locked for the evening. Dim light illuminated the main road as cars whizzed by.

Murdoch ambled his way down his familiar route home from school occasionally pausing in front of shop windows to check his appearance.

Murdoch was wearing a bright red beanie out of the front of which appeared his shaggy brunette hair the beanie. It his hazel eyes that his mother always told him were his best feature.

As murdoch went to adjust his headphones he heard a loud scream glancing across the road he saw a young woman pointing to the sky white as a sheet with a look of horror on her face and her jaw open so wide it appeared as if it was trying to escape her body.

As murdoch looked at where she was pointing what he saw made him wipe his eyes in disbelief.

A large gap had appeared within the sky like a crack or pothole you find in the road.

The crack appeared to let off a blue glow, and gave off dangerous looking sparks almost as if it was a kind of blue lightning being forcibly held in place.

Within the large lightning like crack appeared to be a palace of large grandure.

The peculiar thing about the palce was that it's shape was constantly changing to different eras cultures and styles of architecture some of which appeared even extraterrestrial in origin.

Inside the palace appeared shadows that were constantly moving and shifting with the palace.

A booming sound echoed so loud Murdoch wouldn't have been surprised if the whole world had heard it.

Then one of the shadows stepped forwards giving off a commanding aura that almost forced Murdoch to kneel right then.

Yet the words that were spoken next sent such a bone chilling feeling throughout Murdoch's whole being.

The words so horrifying it made it seem like to everyone on the whole planet even newborns as if time had stopped.

"Entertain us"

With a loud crack not dissimilar to a whip the lightning-like tear in the sky disappeared.

Behind Murdoch came the sounds of tires screeching and more screeming as if people were desperately trying to escape something.

This prompted Murdoch to search for this hidden threat his eyes scanning every single surface in the road in the hopes of identifying whatever it was and being able to escape to safety.

Then Murdoch looked down.

Snaking its way across the street was a meter wide rift, tearing up the tarmac and breaking paving slabs placed on the sidewalk tearing down lampost and street signs alike as if this gaping chasam was trying to swallow the whole street.

Murdoch turned around to run but moved too quickly and ended up falling over backward landing on his school bag that was hung behind him.

Murdoch felt a massive sense of dread as he watched the rift rapidly advance towards him and he knew he wouldn't be able to stand up fast enough to escape and clenched his eyes tightly in anticipation.

Yet the feeling of falling never came, and as murdoch tentatively opened his eyes he saw that the chasm in the floor had passed a few inches infront of his feet.

As murdoch was breathing a sigh of relief a sudden feeling of foreboding apeared as he started to relax.

All of a sudden another sinkhole opened up beneath him and he gained a momentary feeling of weightlessness almost as if he was floating on clouds and was free of all the current stress caused by this situation.

Then Murdoch fell
