Chapter 6 - Awaiting.

The town was flooded with men. The high sun had disappeared over a huge semi-dark cloud in the west. The traffic was normal and the street was noisy with honks and chatting hawkers who walked around with stuff like sweets and soda for sale. A band of cripples at a corner to the exit of the bus stage sang sweet songs that drew a crowd over. The wind began to blow harder and soon clouds gathered over the town. It was going to rain.

Bryan boarded one of the luxurious coaches to the capital after paying for the ticket. He hoped to arrive early before 6pm.

The journey from Thika to Capital was far shorter than that from the Highlands to Thika. Here he had to sit patiently for just an hour before setting foot on Angels City. He kept texting his girlfriend and the journey came to an end before he knew.

"Where are you?" He send a message after having ordered a cup of coffee. He sat at the front counter of Miami restaurant. It was a few minutes past 4 and he wondered if he had just spoiled his time coming to this place. The place served great plates and he wanted to dine with Maeia here tonight, so he decided to wait for another hour.

"I'm near Miami, where are you?" A text vibrated on his phone.

"Come inside Miami. I'm waiting for you." He replied back. He felt excited yet anxious of her reaction. He had fooled her with fake photo ID's, now he wondered how he shall convince her why he did so.

The rain outside poured violetly on the pavement. The sky was grey and blur. A number of people sought shelter from Miami as she provided drinks in exchange for shelter. Among the people who came in was the sly teenager whom he had traveled with earlier. He didn't miss her.

'Why is she here now!' He cursed as he sensed that she might ruin his date with her absurb behaviour.

Their eyes met and he felt drawn. What ever that feeling was, he did feel uneasy now. He turned back and faced the opposite while taking out his phone to check if Maeia had sent a new message. But there was none. He tried dialing her number but it went silent after a female computerised robotic voice suggested him to leave a voice message. He felt poor.

The crowd had split and the tables were full. At a table in the back, a slender girl drank chocolate from a huge mug. Though she seemed to be enjoying the drink, she was mad deep inside. Her phone just went dead. After being caught in the rain she had dropped her phone in a paddle and it now seemed to have died...even the battery was cold.

"F*ck!" She cursed her phone. She had just seen a message from her lover. He was inside here, under the same roof as her, but the problem was that the place was too over crowded and her phone had died. But atleast she had a clear vivid image of him, she just had to pretend to walk around as she searched for him.

Bryan sat sick staring at the time. He was confused. Maeia was a scam. A liar. A pretender. He hated the fact that he had fallen for someone he had never met. He was about to pay his bill and head back to Thika immediately after the rain ceased but someone blocked his view.

His gaze travelled up the strong straight slender legs, up over the bulging chest and finally on a familiar face before he blurted out, "YOU!".
