CHAPTER 16 : TREATING THE EMPEROR
Bai Xue Jian started to walk towards Emperor Hui's resting room. During his few steps, it looks like the soldiers and servants are so surprised at his arrival.
But of the many soldiers and servicemen who were on guard, no one dared to stop his steps. The sharp gaze accompanied by the long sword in his left hand, made everyone afraid to come close.
With big strides, Bai Xue Jian arrived quickly in front of Emperor Hui's bedroom. In front of the door, there were several other bodyguards who looked displeased at his presence.
When Bai Xue Jian only took one more step, he was restrained by the two Guards in front of the entrance. With their swords crossed, Bai Xue Jian's footsteps were forced to stop due to this restraint.
"Hmm!" Bai Xue Jian muttered a little and glanced at the two bodyguards in front of him.
"His Majesty is resting. You are not allowed to disturb him!" said one of the guards firmly.
"He! You trash warriors still dare to stand in my way!" Bai Xue Jian gave a small grin. In his eyes, the two palace guards were like little ants that could be easily crushed.
"You!"
One of the bodyguards looked irritated at feeling belittled by Bai Xue Jian. They are both reliable warriors who dare to die to protect the royal family. Being looked down upon like this, how could it possibly be taken for granted.
"Don't!" But luckily the other bodyguards quickly stopped his friend from getting annoyed and lost his temper.
"Sorry General Xue, His Majesty the Emperor is currently resting. You can't see him right now. You'd better go," said the guard, still maintaining good manners.
With Bai Xue Jian's fierce temper, how could the two bodyguards hinder his intention to meet Emperor Hui. These two bodyguards weren't a big obstacle to him, he just needed to do a small thing to get rid of these two bullies.
'This is the best time to treat Emperor Hui since the Empress is in court. But I can't kill these two bodyguards. Now, it looks like it can only take that thing out, Bai Xue Jian thought.
Bai Xue Jian took out something from inside his sleeve. It was the only thing that could make the two bodyguards in front of him fall down.
A golden token engraved with the Wei royal crest was shown in front of the two bodyguards' faces. Instantly, the two bodyguards became shocked and began to tremble.
"Still disrespect?! This is the Wei Kingdom's gold token! Seeing this is the same as confronting the Emperor!"
Hearing this, the two bodyguards who were a hindrance bowed and even bowed respectfully. The gold token that Bai Xue Jian displayed, really succeeded in making the two dissident bodyguards reverence before his feet.
"Not honoring the gold tokens immediately, you should be put to death," said Bai Xue Jian as he put the gold tokens back into his waist pocket.
"No! Have mercy on us, General Xue!"
Now the guards who had been disobedient turned back to ask Bai Xue Jian for forgiveness. They begged loudly not to be sentenced to death.
"I will punish you guys later. My business to meet Emperor Hui is more important now."
Bai Xue Jian paid no heed to the two bodyguards pleading with him. His feet began to step forward and past the two people. He started to open the door and entered Emperor Hui's room.
Once inside, Bai Xue Jian's eyes fell on the bed on which a middle aged man lay. The middle-aged man closed his eyes, his face looked pale and his breathing was fast, not like someone who was in good health.
"General… General Xue!"
A healer sitting next to the bed looked surprised to see Bai Xue Jian's arrival. The healer who was also middle-aged stood up and rolled his eyes when Bai Xue Jian started getting closer to Emperor Hui's bed.
"General Xue... How, how did you get into the Emperor's chambers? Guards! Guards!" The healer shouted for the guards guarding outside.
But unfortunately, the guards outside had been made submissive by the gold token that was owned by Bai Xue Jian. No bodyguards would dare enter let alone arrest Bai Xue Jian. The healer's efforts will only be in vain.
Sret!!!
Cling!!!
Bai Xue Jian took out his sword and thrust it right at the healer's neck. In an instant, the healer trembled even more and began to break out in cold sweat. Even just breathing felt very tight, even though Bai Xue Jian's sword tip had not yet touched the healer's neck.
Bruck!!
The healer immediately slumped on the floor. He didn't dare say anything because he knew that he had side with evil and harmed Emperor Hui.
Bai Xue Jian also didn't say anything else. He knew that this palace healer was indeed at fault, instead of treating the Emperor's illness but instead worsening Emperor Hui's health condition to this extent.
The woman who wielded full control over the military might pulled something out from under her sleeve. It was a brown pill. Bai Xue Jian grabbed the healer by the neck and forced him to open his mouth.
glu...
Cough cough...
The strange pill was forced to be swallowed and entered into the stomach. The healer was getting more and more scared while stabilizing his breathing because he had been fed a strange medicine by Bai Xue Jian.
"It's a poison that will slowly eat away at your body. After I treat Emperor Hui, you must say who the culprit was who poisoned the Emperor. Otherwise, the poison I gave you would make you suffer and kill him slowly," Bai Xue Jian explained.
The royal healer seemed to not believe what he had swallowed earlier was a deadly poison. The look on her face was blank for a moment and then immediately asked Bai Xue Jian for forgiveness.
However, even if he kowtowed of course it wouldn't be heard by Bai Xue Jian. The crime that the healer had committed was too great and would definitely not be forgiven. The most appropriate punishment for hurting the Emperor was death or beheading in front of all the people.
Bai Xue Jian ignored the healer who was prostrating there, he focused more on the middle-aged man sleeping on the bed.
The woman nicknamed the Goddess of war sat beside the Emperor. Bai Xue Jian started to check the pulse on Emperor Hui's right wrist.
'This poison is more dangerous than Prince Xuan. If I had arrived late, Emperor Hui would definitely be gone this afternoon, Bai Xue Jian thought.
Bai Xue Jian managed to diagnose what poison had made Emperor Hui so sick. However, fortunately Bai Xue Jian was not only good at martial arts, he also had knowledge of poisons and antidotes. So the poison that is in Emperor Hui's body, he will definitely get rid of easily.
