Chapter 3 - The Encounter

I could swear that my heart stopped beating at that moment. Everything else went blank as I stared, my mouth hanging open.

Stepping out of the elevators was a man whose beauty could rival the gods. He had a kind of devilish beauty that could put men and women alike to shame.

For some reason which was very obvious to all present, he looked so out of place in the mall. Standing side by side with him would just result in a crushing blow to your esteem as all traces of beauty will instantly be suppressed making you look like a plain Jane.

Walking towards the exit, a picture of a fallen immortal looking down upon pesky mortals was created.

"...oh God! I'm definitely dreaming. Pinch me..."

I was shaken out of my reverie with a start by my sister's statement, though she didn't look any better. Her eyeballs looked like it would pop out any moment with the extent she was staring and drool almost dripping from her agape lips.

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad," I chuckled at my sister's reaction (though it wasn't far from how I felt) as I made my way back to where my mum was.

For some reason though, I couldn't shake off the feeling of familiarity welding up in me. I felt like I knew him, like I've met him before. Though I highly doubt that cause it was impossible to forget that kind of face that automatically printed itself in your memories.

Much more than the familiarity, I had the strange urge to rush into his arms and cry my heart out. I felt this suffocating feeling well up in me as I struggled to suppress myself. My subconscious was urging me making me feel that as long as I was in his arms, everything would be fine and I had nothing to worry.

"Hmm... that's weird. Anyway, no use thinking about it..." I mused internally.

Turning into the reception, I couldn't resist looking back towards the entrance. I don't know if I was hoping to see the man but I'm sure he would be long gone by now.

Listening in on the surrounding discussions, my ears perked up hoping to catch some gist on the situation.

"OMG!! what's the capital's prince doing here?" one of the attendants shrieked as they discussed among themselves in low tunes.

"Seriously, don't you follow the news in the capital? It was announced recently that he wants to start a building project in this place in order to solidify his position as the heir to the Hart Cooperation." another chimed in.

"Why are you acting as if it's no biggie? Vince Hart is currently the most eligible bachelor in the whole country and every ladies heartthrob. If I can get him to even look my way, I'll die a happy death ah " the first attendant smiled to herself dreamily.

"As if. He hasn't been involved in any scandal with a woman before so what makes you think you'll catch his eye?" yet another chimed in, eyeing the first in disdain.

" You... you guys are just jealous of me. You know that I..."

Their voices trailed as I was no longer interested in listening.

When I found mum, she had just finished paying for the purchases and we hailed a taxi to return home.

Time to prepare for the party...
