Chapter 10 - STREET SOAPS

Chapter 10

She bade the guards at her Centurion office goodbye as she walked in the direction of the parking enclosure where his 4 x 4 Land Rover was. In no time, she was making for Charmers Court. She had to pass through her favourite Spar Steak Crunches for an order that she had placed earlier on for collection. As she walked towards the food outlet, two girls approached her with an intention of selling their street services.

"What do you have for us madam?" one of the girls asked inquisitively.

"Do you need rands or dollars madam?" inquired her colleague before Anable could answer the first one.

"Oh I am very sorry girls, not now; you can give me your numbers so that I hook up with you in the future. I think there must something we can do together" she replied with a subtle promise.

The two women gave their numbers to her after which she proceeded to collect her order, which was prepared within a short time. As she walked back to her vehicle, she passionately waved at those two girls making an assurance.

"I will definitely call you girls" she made an affirmation before departing.

"Ok madam" they responded concurrently.

As she rode to her apartment, the congestion on the roads caused her to drive at a snail's pace, and that pissed her off before she eventually joined the freeway where mobility was much better. It had been a busy day to warrant a refreshing bubble bath. She dropped off whatever she had fetched from the car before making for the bathroom. She suddenly got out naked as she turned on the HiFi, and inserted one of the USBs in sight upon which she selected her favourite Sade Adu track. She liked "By your side" to bits and often played it for Trey. She sang along to the song that was playing at high volume as she refreshed herself from the sticky sweat from the busy day in the bathroom tab. After all, she had left Pretoria Guest lodge in a hurry so there was definitely the need to sanitise considering what had transpired there. Besides, she always took after-work showers. By the way, there was a Nigerian dealer's errand to attend to that very evening so that rigorous bathing session could not have come at a better time.

When she finished bathing, she wrapped herself with a towel as she made for her bedroom where she spent a couple of minutes by the mirror of the dressing table looking at her gorgeous self admiringly. She flipped her hair back and forth, as she appreciated what Mother Nature had given her. She smiled at her mirror image with self-gratification of the immaculate woman she naturally was. In all honesty, Anable was extremely gorgeous. Not many girls would equate to her outstanding natural looks. Her ravishing physical superiority and sex appeal had made Trey throw in all his lot for her. For the very same reason, Sam was tempted to cheat on her beautiful Doctor wife with her. He was not surprised at all when he realized that she had already lost her virginity when they had their first sexual encounter. Good girls are obviously every men's prey, and for that, they are inevitably under immense pressure to resist a barrage of attacks from their predatory instincts. Her loss of girlhood at a tender age was therefore not a unique scenario at all.

Upon finishing the after-shower drills which were synonymous with the application of lotion, cream, powder, hair food, and deodorant of her preferred brands, which were Nivea and Yardley and Johnson & Johnson. She complemented that beautifying routine with a self-hairdo, eye lining, and lip sticking. Anable was that kind of person who would make make-up look good and not vice-versa. With or without make-up, she still looked phenomenally angelic.

She had reduced the volume of the HiFi to be able to hear the buzz from her handbag where her handset was. Upon checking it, she discovered there was a message from a number she had saved as Queen 1. She was quick to realize that it was Sam's wife, as she suddenly got tense owing to the vindictive nature of the conversation.

"Hands off my husband you shameless harlot" the first text read.

"So all along you pretended to play honest little neighbour, for real!" she added.

"If you continue with this hogwash, you'll rue the day you were born Anable" the third text read.

The mention of her name in the last text did not only arouse a remorseful sensation but also incited curiosity as to the implications of such a vile conversation. It had not occurred to her ever since she started gallivanting with Sam that his wife would unleash a confrontational reaction. In fact, they had managed to play their cards well under the covers, to an extent of even keeping both her late parents in darkness. Being neighbours, the two families interacted at great length, with Anable having the audacity of entering their yard from as early as her primary school days. When Sam decided to manipulate her as a teen who had grown to become an irresistible young adult, there still existed mutual respect up until the day she moved to Charmers Court. All was discreet and devoid of any traits of compromise. When her parents suddenly passed away, the good doctor went an extra mile with regard to moral and emotional support, let alone pledged to help her with any pressing needs in the aftermath of that tragedy.

What she had seen on her phone, had not only dampened her spirits but also engendered a conflict in her mind. She wondered whether Sam had deliberately done this to offend his wife, or the latter had invaded her husband's communication privacy. She thought of calling or texting Sam in order to clear her conscience, immediately, the other thought said what if they were together at that particular juncture as chances were. Such an unseen development did not only dampen her spirits ahead of the scheduled scandalous errand at Pretoria Guest Lodge but also evoked ethical questions over her relationship with Trey. Was she doing justice to herself through such backfiring risks? Furthermore, were such risks worth it at all? Was she not risking losing him? The thought of money also crept in as a rebuttal voice in encouragement.

After a while in that psycho-warfare, she resolved to go ahead with the planned dirty mission, but on revised terms. What still boggled her mind was whether the Nigerian dealer would agree to part with 50k on diluted terms as she had resolved that she would not add insult to the Sam injury by featuring in an intimate video tape. Since Nigerians had a knack for obtaining money by hook and crook, chances were that the tape would become viral all in the name of money-spinning. All those suspicions and dissections took over as conflicts of interest heightened. With money being immensely tempting, she decided to go ahead with that skit but based on amended terms. It remains to be seen if the Nigerian dealer would yield to that compromised arrangement. Alternatively, would Anable shift her goal posts? In any case, money has the propensity to fuel corruption and sudden changes.
