"Dad, did you forget about my flight? I'm leaving next week."
"I changed the schedule of your flight, Mei. You will leave tomorrow morning."
My forehead furrowed, confused.
"What do you mean, Pápa? Did you forget Uncle's birthday is tomorrow? I should be there. I can't-"
"Just do what I say, Ameira," he said emphatically that I couldn't understand.
"Is there a problem? Why are you making me leave the country earlier?"
"I've already decided. Your flight is tomorrow morning and that is final."
"But, Dad-"
"Just do what I say, Ameira! I have a lot to take care of here in the next few days. It's better that you're in London."
"B-But it's Uncle's birth-"
"Go back to your room now. Your breakfast is ready downstairs," he said coldly which made me even worse.
I looked at him tearfully but never spoke again. I got out of there and went back to the room resentful.
