That's what sparked the anger within him to take revenge like the petty villain that he was. He didn't truly show it, but he was hurt—more correctly, his ego was stricken down since he had found someone stronger than him. He wanted to crush him, but he couldn't do it publicly, let himself be known to Daven. He wasn't an idiot. He used other people as his disposable pawns to interfere with his progress.
He used his power to frame him as a sexual assaulter, but no one got to know about it. He made his life hell and didn't stop at that. He ruined his image and destroyed his name in the whole country and even put him behind bars. He wasn't torturing him physically but mentally, isolating him from the world.
Daven couldn't figure out the reason why he was doing it since there was no apparent reason. He could only question himself.
He had endured it when he was being abused by Lloyd, who watched from afar. But as soon as it came to his remaining friends, he lost it. The anger within him awakened again—the rage to take revenge. That was when he vowed to kill him and end his family too with it. He gave him what he had endured a hundred times.
He was already cruel after he had gotten back into the main family. Even Alaya didn't know how he changed so much in just a matter of a few months, but he didn't change. He was like that from the beginning, waiting for the right opportunity to show it to him. He was like a snake waiting for the right moment to attack and inject venom into its opponent.
This nature developed when he was young, right after the months of his parents' death. The grief made him turn into a cruel person because that was his way of expressing emotions and also having fun by putting people into misery.
He used to capture people for fake reasons and used to torture them just for the sake of enjoying it. He was a sadist too. He abused his power on everyone he could, destroying many known and unknown families. His only purpose was to crush everyone in the world and climb to the top by whatever means necessary, and so he did.
He used his brain to climb into power, slowly and steadily, until he had enough power to make anyone submit to him, and no one from the main family could interfere in whatever he did.
His emotions made him turn into this. When he was a child, he was a good and kind kid who cared for his friends and family. But when his parents were killed, he realized the power of having strength. He yearned for it to take revenge on the ones who had killed his parents, and after he got intoxicated by the power, he couldn't stop himself from abusing the weak and crushing them. He developed a twisted and sadistic personality, drowning himself in these kinds of activities.
When Daven was faced with this side of him, he swore to his deceased mother and father that he would kill this villain again and again by whatever means possible and wouldn't let him ruin any other lives.
'That guy really messed up my life too. There's really no way I can escape him, especially since he has vowed to kill me,' he thought, his voice showing irritation.
He sat up and looked outside the window, watching the scenery as they headed into the forest of the western region.
'Well... Let's not get irked for no reason since there's nothing I can do to change that fate. The only option is to fight, and that's why I am here traveling,'
He knew that the story of his fate was set in stone; he couldn't do anything else except slow down his progress and boost his own journey with that realization.
'After I am done with these places, I will head directly to the Easternmost region, where I will be to obtain my next loot. I gotta travel to a lot of places during these six months while spreading my name.' He could feel the exhaustion sweeping over him just by imagining it.
"I would be travelling all around the country to find what I need, even entering into the elven and dwarven territories just to get every little thing from the novel that I remember. It doesn't matter if it's useful or not; I have to take all of it away," he organized the simple plan in his mind, determined to feed on what's his.
You could call him a leech stuck in his skin, sucking resources for his growth. He was similar to a leech in that sense, reaching for what was his and intending to use it for his growth.
The train reached the first station in the western region along the way. It was much warmer than Naptia, where the average temperature was negative. Here, the temperature was warm enough to cause sweat under his nose and on his arms.
"Half an hour more, and we shall be there," he said, addressing Rie, who was minding her own business in her world.
Rie looked at him, turned her eyes towards him, and nodded without saying a single word. It was what he had expected from her. She was an introverted kind of person in his eyes.
As the train stopped at this station, it became evident that more passengers were boarding. The cabin, once nearly empty, was now filling up rapidly, leaving only a few seats unoccupied. The atmosphere shifted from the solitude he had enjoyed earlier to the bustling energy of new passengers joining the journey.
The rhythmic motion of the train, combined with the soothing music, created a tranquil atmosphere inside the cabin. As the train continued its journey toward Mulen, Lloyd immersed himself in the melody, savoring the peaceful moments before reaching his next destination.
