Chapter 1 - A reader

The station was bustling with people. Everyone was going to their homes after having gone through another exhausting day. People could be seen entering and exiting the trains. The rush was equivalent to the morning hour rush.

Almost all of them were out of strength. they were tired after having another rough day at their jobs. Fatigue was pretty visible on their face irrespective of their age and gender.

In between all of this commotion, a certain individual could be seen. He had black hair, shining blue eyes, and fair skin. He was physically fit and had average looks. He was nothing sort of outstanding person; he was your day-to-day average person who was fond of reading novels whenever he got time to.

He was doing the same reading novels on his phone while sitting on the bench waiting for his train to arrive. He took out spectacles from his lather squared-shaped office bag and wore them. No, he didn't have any sort of sight problem. He wore them to prevent himself from being attacked by blue rays of light. His glasses were a little rounded from the edges with a black frame.

He had his phone in his right hand and used his left hand to scroll through all the novels he had read. He was finding another book to read because he had completed the book he was recently reading.

After a minute, he found a new book to read. He clicked on the book and start reading it. The book only had 300 chapters and it was called 'Before the End' it was a generic fantasy novel and because he had nothing to read, he decided to give it a go.

When he was 15 years old he came across his first novel 'The Dawn'. It was a novel about war, its aftermath, and how people would unite and rise again. It was the novel that changed his views on the world and made him a book freak.

The protagonist of that novel was a 12-year-old kid who had lost his parents in the war. A kid's whole life as a teenager was wasted in war. when he was 15 years old, he was drafted into war to fight against the enemy country. The kid was terrified of war after losing his parents to the war and was drafted to fight. The story is filled with darkness. The novel showed the reality of humanity and how no one was the same in the face of death.

[A/N: If you want to know about his book, then feel free to ask. I'd like to explain 'The Dawn' briefly because I think it isn't a real book. I just made it up while writing this chapter.]

That novel changed his whole perspective on life and made him a novel freak. He was a novel freak, but it didn't mean he didn't care about anything else and only read novels.

No, this wasn't the truth. He was a well-settled person. He had a good-paying job, though sometimes exhausting, it was a good job, and he liked the job. That was what made it satisfying. He was planning to buy a home for himself in the future. He did better than most people in almost every aspect of life, except looks.

He had also taken good care of like by going to the gym and keeping himself at his best.

[A/N: This is my idea for another book, but I won't be writing it because I don't want to ruin my masterpiece.]

Back to the story, for him, 300 chapters were nothing. He only needed 3 hours to complete the whole book. He had read novels for more than 12 years and this had given him a monstrous reading ability; this was also the reason he had read thousands of novels. It didn't matter what genre it was. He had read it at least once.

[A/N: Exaggeration is somehow necessary.]

He was someone you would call a professional reader if there was a term like this. He was scrolling through each chapter every minute. He had a monstrous reading speed.

He had to wait for at least before his train arrived because the recent train to his home had left before he arrived. Now, he had to wait for an hour and hope his train wouldn't be delayed.

*tin tok*

[Announcement: Passengers, may I have your attention? Train 12213 arriving on platform number 5 has been delayed due to technical problems.]

The rang throughout the whole station. It was loud enough to seize everyone's attention almost immediately.

'Tch'

He clicked his tongue.

"God damn! Why this always happens to me!" He frowned.

Well, he could not do anything except curse his crappy luck for arriving late at the train station.

"There is no point in calling an Uber. I have already waited for half an hour."

He had already waited for almost half an hour. It was already 7:45 pm. The sun had already set. He could have called an Uber, but he didn't because it would also take the same amount of time to reach him because of all the traffic.

"Let me just wait for the train to arrive. Meanwhile, I will continue reading this novel."

He had decided to wait for his train to arrive. Meanwhile, he scrolled through the novel because he had nothing to do. He started enjoying the novel, and though it was generic, it was a decent generic novel. It was like an everyday generic novel, neither good nor bad.

Another 30 minutes had passed and his train had still not arrived. The scenery was still the same people and trains were leaving and entering.

"Just how long do I have to wait?" he sighed.

Another 30 minutes had passed and a train could be seen coming to platform three.

[Announcement: Passenger attention please train number 12213 is arriving on platform number 3.]

Finally, after an hour of waiting, his train arrived. He stood up and put his phone in his pocket and entered his coach. His coach was pretty empty, so, he found himself a window seat and sat down.

He again took out his phone, plugged in his wired earphones, and started to read again.
