Chapter 47 - Chapter 36

In the aftermath of every duel, the myriad worlds will be abuzz with discussion.

Yusei vs Kallen was no exception as Dark Synchro, Yusei and Kallen's past and Yusei's near loss are all great topics of discussion.

In the ARC-V and the VRAINS worlds, all kinds of card development experts are currently researching the capability of Dark Synchro monsters.

For the everyday citizens, they are worriedly gossiping about the past shared between Yusei and Kallen. While Yusei seemed like a good man in his duel against Akiza, Kallen's words cannot help but stick in their minds.

Meanwhile, the duelists are discussing the actions Yusei took in the duel and cannot help wondering how he could've avoided the duel's ending.

In the ZEXAL world, a series of events have taken place when people least expect it. (ZEXAL) Kite and Yuma had discovered Dr. Faker's odd behavior and eventually dueled against him. The Barian influence on his mind being freed in the process. The two then helped the bereaved Arclight family come to a truce with the freed Dr. Faker.

(ZEXAL) Vector was a lifeless heap on the floor. All of his plans have failed and Don Thousand is too weak to help him at the moment. Nash has finally defeated his long-time enemy.

In the air, a familiar screen came to life.

"Next duel. (ZEXAL World): Alito vs Girag."

The (ZEXAL) Barian Emperors open their eyes wide as they didn't expect it. Despite removing Vector, his actions still haunt them. Girag and Alito look over at the other as sadness fills their eyes.

The screen opens up to an oddly-shaped ship hovering in space. On it are a few individuals, among whom are Alito and Yuma staring down a controlled Girag.

"You chose to ally yourself with them, huh? You have to be an idiot to defy Don Thousand," Girag berates his former friend.

"Girag, you have to listen. You've been tricked," Yuma shouts trying to convince him.

"Your memories have been overwritten," Tori cries.

Disbelief comes over the audience. They knew from Vector's duel with Merag and Durbe that he had taken Alito and Girag under his hands but the method used wasn't shared with them.

Memories are important to a person. Vector overwriting them is another reason to hate him.

Girag cannot believe what he is hearing so the crew is going to have to use the method they used to free Alito. Destroying the Barian Emperor's "Number 10X" ace monster while using their "ruins Number."

The ruins Numbers are cards that none of the viewers watching has come across so far and has no knowledge of. The only one capable is (ZEXAL) Nash but he doesn't know the key piece of information related to these cards and the history they share with the Barian Emperors.

As Yuma gets ready to duel Girag, Alito stops him by saying he will take up the duel. Girag is his best friend so he will duel him despite being unable to summon Number 105 Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus.

Yuma trusts Alito and hands him the ruin Number corresponding to Girag.

Alito and Girag get ready to duel with Girag assuming his Barian form.

[4000 LP] [4000 LP]

Alito normal summons the level {2} Battling' Boxer Big Bondage and sets two cards before ending his turn.

Big Bondage: [1100 ATK]

(AN: This duel is going to be the death of me. The start of Girag's turn is actually skipped as Vector vs Merag and Durbe was taking place at this time. Because of this, a section of this duel might have been cut. Whatever happened, Girag is able to special summon his Number C106 Giant Red Hand while keeping five cards in his hand. Because of that, I want to believe he activated Rank-Up-Magic The Seventh One so everything regarding this next sequence of events is fan-made and not official. Letting you know before you spam the comments.)

With a mighty draw, Girag raises the card in his hand into the air. It's the spell card Rank-Up-Magic The Seventh One! Thanks to Don Thousand's power, Girag is able to utilize his Rank-Up-Magic without Nash's approval.

In the ZEXAL world, (ZEXAL) Nash and the other Barian Emperors wear clouded expressions as they see how much Vector and Don Thousand had looked down on their Barian Emperors.

Girag special summons from his deck Number 106 Giant Hand and then uses it as XYZ material for an Xyz Summon.

Rank-Up! Chaos Xyz Change!

Xyz Summon! Rank 5 Number C106 Giant Red Hand.

Giant Red Hand: [2600 ATK]

A large volcanic hand rises up from Girag's side of the field. He isn't finished though.

Girag normal summons the level {4} Fire Hand. The volcanic hand attaches to his shoulder.

Fire Hand: [1600 ATK]

Using the monster effect of the level {4} Prominence Hand in his hand, Girag is able to special summon it since he controls Fire Hand. A golden hand comes out and attaches to his other shoulder.

Level {4} Fire Hand {+} and level {4} Prominence Hand {=} overlay.

Xyz Summon! Rank 4 Number 58 Burner Visor

Burner Visor: [1000 ATK]

A volcanic core hovers in the air, emanating Don Thousand's energy. This energy strengthens his control over Girag's mind. Girag uses the monster effect of Burner Visor and detaches all of its XYZ materials to equip itself on his Giant Red Hand.

The effect of Burner Visor allows Girag to declare direct attacks with his equipped Giant Red Hand. A flurry of volcanic energy erupts from Giant Red Hand, grabbing Alito and slamming him onto the ground before pelting him in volcanic energy.

Alito: [1400 LP]

"Alito," (ZEXAL) Girag screams in guilt. Alito places his hand on Girag's shoulder, telling him it's okay and that it's all water under the bridge.

The Alito on the screen isn't done fighting yet as he can still continue the duel but Girag's Burner Visor has a nasty monster effect that activates while it is equipped on Giant Red Hand. By discarding a card, Girag is able to inflict 500 points of damage.

There are currently three cards in Girag's hand, each of which is going to be sent to the graveyard as a cost for Burner Visor's monster effect!

Volcanic torrents fiercely batter Alito's body as his LP constantly take their hits.

Alito: [1400 LP] - [900 LP] - [400 LP]

In his controlled state, Girag takes great joy in Alito's screams. He sends the last card in his hand to the graveyard to reduce Alito's LP to 0 but Alito activates the counter trap card Hyper Burning and uses its effect to pay half his LP to reduce all effect damage to 0.

Alito: [200 LP]

"I will show you that my heart burns so hot that it can burn even flames," Alito shouts, emanating fierce red energy. Burning Visor's last damage blocked.

Even without his Barian form, Alito is strong enough to make weak-minded duelists cower in fear of his prowess. A fierce flame follows his fingertips as he draws his card for the turn.

(AN: Another skipped turn beginning... Alito has summoned his second level {2} Battllin' Boxer Big Bondage and used an unnamed spell card to turn both of his warrior-type monsters into beast-type monsters. As I have not had extensive knowledge of the game, I will just pass on what the spell card did and leave the imagination of the readers on which card was activated.)

Girag berates Alito for taking needless actions like making his warrior-type "Battlin' Boxer" monsters into beast-type monsters. Alito catches his breath and readies for his next action.

Level {2} Battlin Boxer Big Bondage x2 {=} overlay.

Xyz Summon! Rank 2 Number 64 Ronin Raccoon Sandayu.

Ronin Raccoon: [1000 ATK]

A raccoon in red armor appears on Alito's side of the field. Girag is astonished to find his ruin Number on Alito's side of the field. A golden light shines in his chest before shooting out to Alito.

The light dissipates and a strange raccoon stands before Alito.

"Who are you?" Alito asks.

"The spirit of Girag's number, Ponta is on the scene!" Ponta proclaims.

The viewers are astounded. This kind of operation also works?

It's not as though they haven't seen duel spirits on the screen before but this one seems a little odd, don't you think?

The (ZEXAL) Barian Emperors turn and look at Girag, wondering what this raccoon Ponta has to do with him. He did say he was the spirit of Girag's ruin Number card.

(ZEXAL) Girag scratches his head, wondering how to respond. Why does this weird raccoon give him good feelings just by being on the screen?

Alito requests Ponta's aid as he activates the monster effect of Ronin Raccoon. By detaching an XYZ material, he special summons a token with ATK equal to the highest ATK on the field. The current strongest monster on the field is Giant Red Hand.

A golden raccoon pops out of some smoke before transforming into a grey copy of Girag's Giant Red Hand.

Token: [2600 ATK]

Alito attacks with the token into Giant Red Hand. Girag reminds Alito that a "Number" monster can only be destroyed in battle with another "Number" monster so the token is destroyed.

Alito activates the counter trap card Last Counter and uses its effect to reduce Giant Red Hand's ATK to 0 since it destroyed his monster by battle.

Giant Red Hand: [0 ATK]

That same amount is then added to Ronin Raccoon's ATK.

Ronin Racoon: [3600 ATK]

Fire erupts out of Ronin Raccoon's body as Ponta's spirit calls out to Girag. Giant Red Hand is destroyed by Ronin Raccoon as Alito calls out to Girag to remember his true past.

Girag: [400 LP]

The screen switches to the past as Girag acts as a samurai who is being confronted by his close allies. Each of them is controlled by Don Thousand.

Don Thousand wipes Girag's memories by using Number 106 Giant Hand and removes Ponta's influence on his soul. Number 64 Ronin Racoon Sandayu is left on the ground as Girag's soul is left to go to the Barian World, a tool for Don Thousand's resurrection.

(ZEXAL) Girag's fist tightens as he realizes how Don Thousand influenced his life. When Nash and Yuma dueled, Nash said the rest of them were sent to the Barian World because of Don Thousand's influence and now he has seen it for himself. Poor Ponta.

The Girag on the screen comes out of his Barian form, his memories have returned.

"Great, now they don't have to fight!" (DM) Joey shouts in joy.

"Who knew Girag had such a past?" (VRAINS) Flame muttered.

"So what becomes of this duel?" (GX) Chazz wonders.

Girag looks up at Alito as he realizes what happened. He walks over to Alito but Alito shouts for him to stop. The trap effect of Last Counter is being activated, since Alito destroyed the monster whose ATK is reduced to 0 he must now take damage equal to its original ATK.

There is no card in his hand or on his field that is able to reduce the effect damage to 0 this time. Hyper Burning was used up in the previous turn.

"Girag, you're the best bud I've ever had," Alito says. "Finally, we can be just like friends huh?"

"Alito," Girag tears up.

Alito apologizes to Yuma for not being able to win and asks him to defeat Don Thousand for him when he gets the chance. Yuma cries out with tears in his eyes as Alito's trap explodes in his face, his body flying back into the air.

Alito: [0 LP]

Girag reaches out for Alito's body with tears in his eyes as Alito's body turns into red stardust. Another of the Barian Emperors has perished.

"It's okay," (ZEXAL) Alito says to his companions. He knew his other self knew the risk.

Just as all of the viewers are ready for the screen to turn off, an unexpected event occurs on the screen. As Girag is mourning Alito's loss and the pain Don Thousand inflicted on them, Don Thousand's voice calls out to them.

Tendrils rip out of a tear in space before coming at Yuma. Girag sees this and pushes Yuma out of the way, taking the blow from the High Manipulator of Chaos. The blow is lethal and Girag's life is now forfeit.

Ponta requests to stay by Girag's side this time as the two souls join with Alito's before being absorbed by Vector. The creep revels in having obtained most of the powers from the Barian Emperors before sensing Nash breaking free of his confines.

Anger courses through Yuma's veins as he is unable to stop Vector from leaving the scene. Ironically, this is when the screen calls the victor of the duel.

"(ZEXAL World): Girag vs Alito. The winner of the duel is Girag."
