Overwhelmed with emotions, she hurried down the few steps of the elevated floor, her soft voice calling out eagerly, "Aaron..."
The boy's expression had made a sharp turn by the time he looked up to discern the familiar call.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
"Your-your Highness!?" He cautiously walked forward, afraid that he might be hallucinating, and if he behaved ahead of himself, the illusion would wreck.
"It's really me," Rain assured him, stopping the lad from perusing so thoroughly.
In the blink of an eye, Aaron crossed the distance between them and quickly enveloped the girl in a tight hug.
Rain's eyelashes fluttered in surprise. Not in her wildest dreams had she expected Aaron to hug her.
Nevertheless she didn't refuse him. Instead, she balanced her jaw on his shoulder, and wrapped her arms around him. Her palms caressing his back to soothe his spontaneous sobbing.
