Chapter 9 - Joint Military Operation

"For blending in, I'll give it 9/10."

Sawyer was wearing the bandit's clothing and put his real clothing on the day pack. He was wearing the usual medieval clothing, with a cloak alongside a makeshift head wrap. His M16 was covered behind the cloak. He really reminded me of those disguises back in the Middle East.

I covered my face with the tar from the ground alongside dirt. My face would stand out if I don't do that. I drew out the infiltration plan on the ground while Sawyer would give me suggestions. This would give the most optimal outcome of the plan.

"Sawyer, you'll attack from the southeast. Your main goal is to distract the enemy until I fired the first shot," I said.

"So, I am not allowed to fire my weapons or my M16? Well, it would be a little bit tricky, but sure. And you'll keep quiet with your rifle too, right?" Sawyer asked.

I just replied with a nod. He would understand. The moment Sawyer fired his rifle, the amount of slaughter would make sure that the biggest house on the farmland would be the highest priority to be protected. That would jeopardize the rescue mission before it even started.

Besides, with Sawyer's experience as a paramilitary military officer from the agency, this should go smoothly. I wasn't sure which part of the covert organization he was in, but I could assure you that he was one of the black-ops types of guys.

I never saw him though, I wasn't sure that he was part of the CIA. Probably, he was from the neighboring agency, Intelligence Support Activity, or one of those Joint Special Operation Command special forces.

"Small talk, what part of SF you are in?" Sawyer asked.

"Pararescue, why do you ask?" I asked him back.

"Just wondering. So, you are more than capable of handling this?" Sawyer asked again.

"Capable? I know this behind my palm. The question is, would I be fast enough? This kidnapper could execute her the moment they saw me. Of course, it's not like I'm going to let them see me," I said.

"Let's open our watch first, I want to know whether you'll appear on the minimap or not."

Our positions appeared as green blips on the map. The PID automatically shared our locations. I zoomed out the map and pointed to the spot right on the northwest side of the farmland. Once I arrived at the position, Sawyer should begin his distraction.

It was a good thing, I didn't have to give any signal that would be too obvious that the kidnappers would notice. Of course, I wasn't exactly profound about whatever would put me under the spotlight of those people.

"Alright, the plan's clear enough, let's go, I'll meet you back at the village, don't wait for me," Sawyer said as he began moving towards the position.

"Godspeed."

I embarked on the horse and took a longer route of circling around the farmland. The moonlight shined the way for the horse so it didn't accidentally fall down into a ditch. However, it was a double-edged sword.

The moonlight would degrade my stealth advantage. Still, any camouflage was better than no camouflage at all. I reached the designated position. I tied down the horse to the fence and Sawyer's work came into effect immediately.

"INTRUDER FROM THE EAST!"

"BASTARD STOLE OUR MONEY!"

Immediately, even the guards from the barn came running to the housing complex on the east. Sawyer, you were scary punctual, even for such an abstract time window. I jumped over the fence and jumped down with my M16 in front of my shoulder.

I stepped my feet quietly on the damp gravel road of the farm, making sure that I didn't create any suspicious noise from the cracking sound of the rocks. I aimed my rifle at the window of the house, the light was still on.

"THE BASTARD KILLED ONE OF OURS!"

What? I didn't even hear any gunshot. Did he manage to kill one of them using his melee attack alone? Well, he brought his machete, so there was that. No longer bothering that, I climbed a wooden fence that bordered the house and the road.

However...

Creak...

How fragile was this fence? I used my whole power to jump the fence in one go. I better rushed it to the window. I crouched across the tall grass, disguising my green uniform between the green grass.

I pressed my hand against the wood of the window. The moisture from the damp wood entered my finger. However, the wood was still strong enough that I wouldn't be able to do this quietly. Well, time for a minor change in plan.

I grabbed my machete and smashed it into the window. The sound of broken glass immediately filled the already chaotic night. I put my hands inside the window and opened the handle of the window. The window swung freely outside and I climbed inside with my M16 in my right hand and my left hand supporting my weight.

In that bedroom, my hostage sat down with her hands tied down on the chair. I swung my machete at the rope tying her down and freed her. The scared child barely could speak, well, she was a hostage. Now, time to go loud.

"Girl, I'll carry you on my shoulder, can you hold me tightly?" I asked.

The girl just nodded. I lifted the girl from the ground. The girl hugged me tightly so I didn't have to use one of my hands to carry her. She sat on top of my daypack. I put my siege mode back and walked towards the door.

Just before I put my hand on the handle, someone slammed on the door.

"Adios." I pulled the trigger of my M16 and the person dropped dead on the ground.

Gunfire immediately ensued from the east direction. Sawyer had started using his guns to exterminate the kidnappers, about damn time. I kicked my way to the front door and shot the magicians guarding the front door.

Muzzle flashes came from the east direction, Sawyer was shooting at the kidnappers at quite a close distance in the standard of the military. I dashed towards my horse. I put the child on the back of the horse. I whipped the horse and we headed back into Olbora village.
