I wanted to make him realize that I was here for him, so I did all the things I could to break through his walls. My actions might have been frustrating or even infuriating to him, but I was determined to show him that I wasn't going anywhere.
Even if that meant covering him with flour. Mine had been unintentional but him, oh no, I wasn't going to spare him.
His gaze locked onto mine, and the air between us seemed to thicken with unspoken emotions. I smiled, my heart racing as I took a step closer to him, my fingers lightly brushing against his cheek, wiping away a smudge of flour. His breath caught, and his eyes held a vulnerability I had rarely seen.
