I got 1 hour of sleep at most before Azriel barged into my room and shook me up.
"Go away, dickhead." I mumbed, turning away from him on the bed.
"No, get up. It's time for your training." I felt the weight on the bed coming closer to me.
"No." I said.
"No?" He asked, now sitting on top of me. He was so heavy that I thought I was going to sink in the bed.
"Yes." Oh, shit.
"Yes, it is." He spoke, smirking. He was so clever. "Get up or I'll tickle you."
"Just let me sleep one hour more."
"No. You can sleep after training." He shifted to the bed, and started tickling my sides. I thrashed, trying to kick him off the bed. I didn't knew I was this ticklish. "Ahahaaha-stop, asshole."
He laughed with me. "Well now, you won't be able to sleep, anyways, might as well come for training." He stopped tickling and grinned devilishly.
"You evil, evil person," I squinted my eyes at him.
"What are you talking about? I'm an angel." He said, walking out of my room, a smirk on his face.
I got out of bed because yes, I wouldn't be able to sleep now. My cheeks warmed when I saw him doing something in the kitchen. He wore just a vest, his leaning, towering frame hiding whatever he was doing.
"Good morning, Fiery." He turned around, two glasses of I-don't-know-what in his hands.
"I don't know about the good part in my morning," I smiled at him sarcastically. "What's that?"
"Lemon juice."
"That's gon' be really sour."
He nodded casually, "And healthy," He handed me the drink, "Drink up."
"What if I don't want to?" I said.
"I'll make you. And it won't be pretty." He said, sternly. I mimicked him but drank the glass of juice. Actually, it wasn't that bad. It was sour, yes, but I liked it.
"Okay now, follow me outside." He said, walking ahead of me.
Ugh. He was so annoying.
"Do you have pain anywhere? Does it hurt anywhere?" He asked.
I shook my head.
"You guys going somewhere?" Grace's voice.
I turned around, seeing Grace standing there with a curious expression on her face.
"Yeah, I have to train," I replied, my voice lacking enthusiasm.
Grace raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting between Azriel and me. "Well, have fun with that," she said, a mischievous smirk forming on her lips as she walked away.
I sighed, knowing that Azriel had something to do with her sudden interest in our training. He always managed to stir up trouble, even unintentionally.
Azriel led the way outside, his long strides matching his confident demeanor. I followed behind, still feeling a bit groggy from the lack of sleep.
As we reached the training area, my eyes scanned the surroundings. It was a secluded spot, surrounded by tall trees and open space. The soft morning light filtered through the branches, creating a serene atmosphere.
"Let's go, Fiery, come on. Run." He said as he started running making want to cry. I didn't want to run. I wanted to sleep.
I reluctantly started running after Azriel, my legs feeling heavy with each step. The morning air filled my lungs, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of exhaustion wash over me. Why did he have to be so energetic and enthusiastic about everything?
I struggled to keep up with his pace, my body protesting against the sudden burst of physical activity. Every fiber of my being yearned to collapse onto the ground and give in to the sleep I longed for.
"Fiery, at this pace you might as well just walk." He teased.
I stopped and pointed a finger at him, "You, you, you, didn't let me sleep, and you're making me run now." My cheeks red with embarrassment. "And now you're teasing me!"
He chuckled, and ran closer to me, "Okay, try this. Look." He spoke, and took in a breath before leaving it, his mouth forming an 'O'. "Try."
I nodded, hesitantly, before taking in a breath, and releasing it while looking at him, as he gave me a small smile. I glared at him.
"Why the look of kill, Fiery?"
Because my heart jumped because of you.
"Because I want to."
He snorted, "Okay, let's start."
We ran. I knew I was doing slightly better than before, but he was strict. "Come on, you've got this!" Azriel called out, his voice filled with encouragement. But all I could think about was how much I despised him in that moment. Why couldn't he just let me sleep?
I was about to stop.
But just as I was about to give in to the exhaustion and stop running, I felt Azriel's hand on my back, gently pushing me forward. "Don't stop now, Fiery. You're almost there," he said.
"I can't." I panted.
"You can."
I pushed myself further and further until a stone made me trip and fall down.
"Uh-oh," He crouched down, "Got hurt?"
I winced as pain shot through my knee, feeling a dull throb as I assessed the damage. "I think I twisted my knee," I groaned, trying to sit up.
Azriel's expression darkened, and turned serious as he examined my injury. "Let me take a look."
I stared in awe as his touch worked its magic on my injured knee. The pain subsided almost instantly, and I watched in amazement as the swelling reduced and the twisted joint realigned itself. It was like witnessing a miracle right before my eyes.
A question arose in my mind but soon they became many as I thought about it, "Will I be able to do that? Heal? And back then, you didn't answer me. Do I also have wings? Will I be able to fly? And I mean- I didn't really use my phone, but I would like it back. Do you know where it is? I think you stole it," I squinted my eyes at him as his amber eyes twinkled. His lips curved up ever so slightly, watching me continue, "Also, you have got to get me clothes from my house, I mean I can't keep changing three pair of night suits-"
He leaned in a little closer, his face a few inches away from mine, as he whispered, "Don't stop, I'm listening."
"Well, uh, that was it," I spoke, warmth spreading across my cheeks as I averted my eyes from his face.
He booped my nose, "No, I was waiting for more."
I blushed, and pushed him away, "Well, forgive me, little Azriel, for not preparing more question for you."
Azriel chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement as I playfully patted his head. He leaned back, still wearing that mischievous grin on his face.
"Oh, Fiery, you never fail to entertain," he teased. "But don't worry, I'll forgive you this time. As for your questions, let me address them one by one."
He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts before continuing. "First, healing abilities, look, there are different types of magic." He sat down on the ground comfortably, and I mimicked him. "You may possess it, you may not, I think your magic more like attack and defense. For my abilities well, um, it only works for you because I am your guardian. Plus you have elements, mine is air, but I can use every one of them."
"How?" I spoke before he could.
"Because I am special." He smirked proudly.
I narrowed my eyes. "Really?"
"Everyone has potential, while I also am special," He smiled. "I trained for that potential and honed all of the elements."
I nodded. The fact that Azriel had mastered all the elements was both impressive and intimidating.
"Can I master all of the elements?"
"Of course, you can, Fiery."
"Hm...that's interesting." I smiled. It made me feel good. His words had a way of encouraging, maybe I could be some worth, finally, and stop being a disappoint.
"Yes, now, onto the wings," Azriel said, a hint of mystery in his voice. "Not all guardians have wings. It's a special gift granted to only a select few. And you're not a guardian. We're different species, so no."
I blinked in surprise, processing Azriel's words. So, I wouldn't be sprouting wings anytime soon. That was sad.
"You have plenty of incredible qualities without wings, Fiery. Trust me." He gave me a small smile, and then he continued. "You may be able to fly, I mean levitate. No for wings, but if you master the levitating, you'll be up in the sky."
The thought of defying gravity and exploring the world from above filled me with a sense of awe. My mouth opened, "So i'll just float in the air?"
He nodded.
"That's...waah. How do I learn? Can you teach me?"
"Step by step." He said, raising his eyebrows and I slightly nodded, my gaze saddening.
"Fiery, patience, okay?"
"Fine, you asshole."
"Well, as your guardian I must say you are special."
My eyes shot up at him but I glared as his voice continued, "Unique. No one calls their guardian an asshole." He smiled venomously, his eyebrow twitching.
"Well, none of them are you." I smiled sweetly.
He glared at me, "and none of their wards are you."
I rolled my eyes.
"Anyway, As for the phone," Azriel said, a playful grin on his face. "I promise I didn't steal it. It's safe and sound, waiting for its rightful owner. I'll make sure to retrieve it for you soon."
I sighed in relief.
"And lastly, clothes," he said with a playful smirk. "Consider it done. I'll make sure you have a fresh wardrobe waiting for you, so you can bid farewell to those repeated night suits."
"Okay... So I can go my house and take clothes or will you go with me?"
"Fiery, do you know where your house is?"
Yeah, it was a dumb question, I just realized. "No."
"Exactly, plus, we're not going there, we're going to shop. I had to go anyway."
"But- But I don't have money."
"Not a problem. I am loaded." He smirked.
"But that's your money." I furrowed my brows.
"Nah, it's your money too."
"How?"
"Because I said so." He said, sternly and got up.
"Hey!" I yelled at him as he ran towards the house, "That's not cool!"
"It is. I love buying gifts."
"You asshole!"
"Careful, Fiery." He chuckled devilishly as I caught up to him. "I know how to shut you up. And in many ways."
Oh, no. What was I going to do about my jumping heart?
