Chapter 30 - Chapter 29: Info Broker

Making their way back to the city, everyone once again had their disguises on. On the way back, they noticed about two other Hunter parties heading in the direction Ruby and the others came from. Ruby surmised they were going after the Goblins that were there. Unfortunately for them, Ruby had ordered Maisy to grab the bodies to hide the fact that a Vampire was there. The blond was grateful for the help.

After entering the city, Cristina led the others off the main road. After traveling down small side roads and alleyways, they finally found themselves in front of a worn-out two story stone building. Metal bars were bolted on the outside of the windows with black sheets hiding what was within. The atmosphere coming off the place was incredibly shady.

"Here we are, my lovely office." Cristina said, dramatically gesturing towards the building like she was presenting a piece of art.

"Your office?" Ruby said questionably.

"Well if we're doing business together then we should do it here," Cristina started explaining, "I'm an info-broker after all." Taking a key out of her pocket she proceeded to unlock the heavy metal door.

Pushing the door open she gestured for the others to follow her inside. The inside of the building was much nicer than the exterior. The room they entered seemed to be a lobby, with wooden floors, and a nice red carpet leading up to a counter with a blond man with red eyes sitting behind it. A hallway to the left of the counter led deeper into the building.

"Hey Adrian, got ya some blood." Cristina said tossing a couple of vials to the blond man. "I'll be in the back, got sum business to take care of."

"Alright, I'll be here." Adrian said catching the blood vial without looking up from his book. "See you later sis."

'So they're siblings.' Ruby noted.

Looking at both of them side by side, one could tell their personalities easily. One dressed as a pirate, the other dressed like a scholar. With her Pirate coat, short hair, and leather boots Cristina looked like she belonged on a ship out on the open seas. The only thing she was missing was a pirate hat to complete the outfit. With his medium sized blond hair, pulled into a short ponytail, with glasses adorning his face, and wearing a grey suit with a tail coat over it. Adrian looked right at home inside a library. These two were total opposites. Even their dialects were different from each other even though they were siblings.

Walking past the front desk and into the hallway, they followed the pirate woman with her strange dialect. Shortly thereafter they found themselves in a meeting room of sorts. With two couches facing each other and two other chairs, with a low table in between them all. It was empty otherwise with hardly any decoration. Surprisingly Cristina didn't really show her personality by decorating her space, all her showboating apparently came from the way she dressed and acted.

"Well, sit down then," Cristina said, plopping down in one of the arm chairs, "Come now, lets talk details of your request."

Everyone sat down on one of the couches while Ruby sat on the other arm chair across from Cristina. "... What do you need to know?"

"Well for starters I would like you to help narrow down the area I have to search," She started saying, "Point to a general location on a map and i'll do the rest." As she spoke, she pulled out a map of the continent and laid it out on the table.

"I got this." Judieth said as she pointed at the map. "She was found around here nine years ago."

"I see, and you said your mothers name was Lucilla Baker, right?" She asked, with Ruby nodding to confirm that the information was correct. "We'll I'm assuming you're looking for the woman in actuality and the town doesn't really matter to you. I'll let you know if I find her for ya. Now then, is there anything else ya want to know? I'll throw in a freebie, just this once."

"...."

"Do you have any information on Demons in Human territories?" Yuki timidly asked when Ruby said nothing.

"Oh, well I'll certainly try. Don't really hear much about them coming over here though. There was an incident about sixty years ago I can look into that for ya." Cristina said.

Judieth who was silently listening to the conversation, suddenly perked up when Cristina mentioned the incident. Noticing this Cristina stole a quick glance towards Judieth before turning her attention back to Yuki. On the other hand Ruby and Morella looked at Yuki sympathetically after hearing her request.

"Uh, no, not that long ago... I'm only nineteen." Yuki said shaking her head.

"Mmm, yeah now that you mention it your blood does smell young." Cristina responded. "Not old enough to be around sixty years ago."

"Right. So do you know anything else?"

"I'm sorry, but I don't really have any more information for you right now. Demons in Human territories are usually big news, but i'll still search for them if you want."

"My parents are dead."

"... ah. I'm sorry. Then what do you want me to do?" Cristina asked.

"I just need to know who killed them." Yuki said, her voice low, but clear.

"I see." The vampire said after a pause. "I'll look into it."

The room fell silent after that. The awkward atmosphere laid thick in the air as everyone tried to think of what to say. Eventually Ruby decided it was time to go. They got what they came for and this silence was killing her, and as she stood up the others followed suit.

"... It's time for us to leave then, thank you for you time." Ruby said. "We'll come back here next week before we leave the city."

"No problem love." Cristina said, her usual smile plastered on her face once again as she too stood up. "Let's hope to meet again... not counting next week anyway."

"... Mm."

With that they exited the room, walked down the hall, passing Adrian still at the front desk reading, before leaving the building proper. It was dark in the area they were located in but looking up at the sky they could tell it was still bright out. With a whole day still at their disposal they decided they should sell what they could at The Hunter's Guild before calling it a day early.

"Let's go." Ruby said, as she started walking.

"Wrong way dear, the Guild is this way." Morella called to her.
