After they collided, there was a moment of silence. No one spoke, not even a word but they would soon realize how fragile this power could really be. "Well then..." Danari Avara clears her throat. "A guilty verdict has been passed."
When everyone starts shifting, Roan looks up at Mr. Odago who is already standing. "Is that it?"
"Yes, you won." Mr. Odago leans over the desk and starts picking up the files on the table and slides them into a folder.
"I won?" Roan's eyelashes flutter. "But what happens now? I do not understand."
"We celebrate our win, your win."
"And what about him?" Roan jumps up and holds down the next Paper Mr. Odago was trying to pick up, forcing Mr. Odago to look at him. "What are they going to do to Zarion?"
Mr. Odago lowers his voice. "Well, a guilty verdict was passed. Balance needs to be restored."
"Restored how?" Before Mr. Odago can reply, Roan spins around when he hears a loud wail. He sees Zarion's stepfather holding Zarion's mother as she cries with her mouth open wide, her face turning red and her hair sticking out of its tight bun.
Roan had seen the pictures of them long enough to recognize them. "Are they going to hurt him? Is he going to die?"
"I'm afraid so."
Roan looks up at Zarion, the crowd's noise dampening. He has been dragged back under water, another wave submerging him into a strange silence.
He cannot hear the chains hitting as they put them over Zarion's wrist. He does not hear Mr. Odago calling his name. At first, he feels nothing. He feels detached from this reality, his mind cannot comprehend his own weight, he tongue taste like metal. Then, a spark, so small an innocent in nature, sparks in Roan's stomach. "No." he says it so quietly that Mr. Odago must ask him to repeat himself. "I said, no."
"No, what do you mean no?"
"No!" When Roan's voice echoes off the walls of the Courtroom, everyone turns to looks. Roan turns around and faces every he knows. "Enough life has been taken already. You have made me responsible for the deaths of fifteen others! Enough is enough!"
"Oh good, I was worried this was going to be a waste of time." The Professor taps his claw like nails against his palm as he watches eagerly to see what might happen.
"Mr. Odago." Noa storms over to him. "Get your client under control or so help me god I will find some other way to crush you like the puny elf you are."
"Roan, stop, we won." Mr. Odago chuckles nervously.
"I did not win, there is no winning and losing for me. This is my life." Roan corrects himself. "Our lives. What gives you, or you or anyone here the right to take it away?"
"Roan you do not know what you are talking about." Mr. Odago shuffles over to Roan, gripping his arm. "Are you trying to go against the ruling of the Danari because trust me you do not want to challenge them."
When Mr. Odago sighs, Roan closes his eyes. "There are camera's watching with people from all over. Now quickly, come with me, do not invite chaos into your life. Let us pray to Harmonia and hope she forgives you for your sins and mine."
Roan cannot hold back any longer. The fire, that has been building up inside of him, finally begins to smoke. Two serpent eyes look back at Mr. Odago when Roan opens his eyes. The tiny elf jumps away from Roan, stumbling over his own feet and falling to the ground.
"I will not bow down..." Roan lets the last of his tears slide towards his chin. "...to anyone."
Adamar jumps out of his seat and pulls his sword, pointing the tip at Roan. "Seize him!" The Valsari move from the posts and swarm around Roan.
"This is what they do to us. They hunt us, they murder us!" The Valsari wait for the order, their circle shrinking around Roan like a snake constricting its prey. "We are left with nothing!"
The large shadows swooping across the floor make the people inside look out the stained-glass windows where they can see the shapes of creatures flying past the windows.
"Now you must fear us." Roan spits out every word individually, keeping his eyes trained on Adamar.
The Valsari move as one, all of them jumping as soon as Adamar screams the order to attack but before any of them can get their hands on Roan, a thunder of Dragon's crashes through the stained windows. Roan does not flinch as the dragons surround him, quickly disposing of the Valsari that were not quick enough to react.
Dragons of every size, shape and colour surround Roan. "Are you seeing this?" Victoria, an Initial from a distant land, turns to her cameraman. "I need you to get a shot of that. Now! Do it Now!"
The cameraman manages to get some footage of Roan holding his arm in the air and leaving three trails of blood on his arm with his claws. "We have Pride, and we have Power." Roan's blood drips down all the way to his elbow where it gathers before dropping on the marble floor.
"But we have been patient long enough!" When the Dragon's roar Roan can almost see the lightning in the air, every fibre of his body feeling like it is on fire, his heart thumping in his chest.
After they collided, there would be Chaos
