A black ball fell inside the straw carriage and exploded, the sparks of flames flew to the sky and hit the jars of whale oil that were positioned near the barn, ready to go inside. The fire roared and people screamed, running away.
Some of those who were close got hit by the pieces of jugs. Prince Wu Xiuying saw the kid who was stuck in the middle of flames, terrified, and couldn't even make a noise. His back sweated, he had experienced this as a child and the terror at this moment was a mere nightmare. People were helping the wounded old woman who was selling Xiaolongbao but no one dared to get close to the flames.
Even the troops of guards who were marching ahead were stepping back not to be kissed by the furious wild lashes.
"My child!" the woman cried.
The prince didn't hesitate and flew into the flames, straightforward after he, came princess Xing Huan. Both of them reached a hand for the child and the prince made it faster. Hugging the boy, noted, "Leave here, lady!"
The princess's eyes met his and sharply stared at him who was trying to find a chance to fly up the roof, her heartbeat was pounding, and something shattered inside her. Why were these eyes so familiar?
"My Cat!"
The child noted, and the princess looked at the small creature inside the hole on the wall.
"Leave, I will bring the animal."
The prince bounced up on the roof and rushed back to the safe place where the child's grandmother was.
The boy stormed to his grandmother, whose forehead was bleeding, squeezing her between her arms, and said, "I thought you are dead." He began to cry loudly.
The old woman began to pat his head, "No, I won't leave you alone, my child." She was sobbing, her heart traveled to her mouth l, seeing he was surrounded by fire.
The prince looked back over his shoulder, people were assisting the guards, striving to bang the fire down with the buckets of water and soil. The princess wasn't there at all.
Sensing her perfume, he turned back and saw her tending to the old woman! Why was he this worried about her? The throbs of concern were pricking his nerves. But how did it happen? His eyes strolled around and saw the person in black who covered his face, there was a pendant on his sword that shimmered. Discovering Wu Xiuying's eyes on him, he turned back and escaped.
'One scratch on her, and I would kill you all! She is mine!'
Following the man who jumped on the roof, he was running in the air as fast as he could, this man wasn't just a simple trained person like everyone he had seen before. He was pretty fast, and only a group of people were like these, assassins.
His cheeks flushed in rage for being impatient, but he decreased his pace to see where he was going. The man dragged his route to the forest, where the bamboo covered the sight, and he could manage to run away easier.
The prince smirked and flew up the highest branches, following the man faster, he tossed two needles that were adjusted inside his hand fan.
One skipped the man but the second one penetrated in a special point on the back of his neck, stiffening as a piece of wood, the man fell off to the ground, couldn't even cry out of the sore.
The prince landed on the ground, rubbing the dust off his clothes, "If I don't take that needle out and help you, you will be paralyzed. He walked near the man, sitting above his head, he took out the needle but the man's body was senseless as if a piece of flesh.
"You can use your tongue, attacker! The child was about to die because of you."
"What do you want from me, I don't understand what you want."
"Hmm, let me see, who are you first."
He used his hand fan's tip and brought the man's chin up, removing the mask on his mouth, then his hand moved to the fallen sword and withdraw the pendant.
"Why did you cause the fire?"
The man was sweating, his body was all numb and he couldn't even lift a finger. Who was this freak?
"Get lost!"
The prince pouted, looking at the shape on the pendant which was a dragon skeleton. He had never seen assassins of such a group!
"Who is leading you?"
"Why should I tell this to a stupid merchant like you?"
The prince cussed; he couldn't let him have control over his organs otherwise he would commit suicide not to be found by the princess.
Figuring out the presence, he drew back but didn't leave as it was unnecessary, they had seen him following this man.
Taking him under siege, his eyes roamed on the princess, "Is the child fine?"
He knew he was, but he wanted to mislead the princess and her companions. He wasn't the bad guy, anyway and he caught the culprit, such a favor from not a generous man.
Zha Gang unsheathed his sword and placed it on his neck, "Who are you?"
"The good guy! He was watching the show in the dark, not me!"
A shadow flashed out of the dark and his blade rested on Zha's neck, "Bring it down, young master helped you."
The princess strode to the attacker, kneeling on one knee in front of him, how skillful this man was to shoot this assassin with a needle, not everyone was capable of this.
"Drop your blades, take this man with you, make sure he doesn't have venomous teeth in his mouth."
She demanded and got to her feet.
"I saw him following us, perhaps they aimed your life."
Fu Liu stated!
"Excuse me, why would an assassin aim to catch this young lady, if you mind answering!"
The prince chimed in, did she have other enemies or it was another plot against her life, a hired assassin?
"Who the hell are you? I did nothing!" The man cried out.
"Are you a clown? Stop this bullshit!" Zhao Gang dragged him with Yan Yuxi, smacking his head. He was furious, almost ten people were wounded and a child was about to burn in the fire if this young stranger wasn't there.
The prince got his answer, this man knew the princess, he didn't show a surprising reaction when she showed her face to him.
"It was a distraction!" Xing Huan stated.
The princess ignored the boastful man beside her, she didn't like the way he was staring at her meaningfully. Was he amused?
"For what?" Fu Liu asked.
"I don't know. Let us get back and realize."
Leaving there, only the prince and his captain remained. Chaoxiang gazed at the pendant that his majesty had held in his sleeve.
"What is this?"
"This man won't talk, I saw how he was running, he is not a regular lawbreaker, he has trained and was running to those mountains."
He pointed out to the Da mountains that were shrouded by snow, even in summer that chain of mountains was as white as silk.
"It was on his sword."
He handed him the pendant and walked forward, smirking at how the princess was trying to be strong, as it came across Li Shu's words had pinched her pride.
