"What?" I questioned, but it's more of an expression of my disbelief. "You're seriously going to let me rot in here instead of taking my words seriously? Fuck it, what's wrong with you? I bet Avery ran off, bloodied and scared! You need to get your shit together, man…"
I slowly stood up and faced him as he stood by the sliding door with that stupid face of his. However, he just sneered and heightened my vapid punishment.
"Four weeks."
My eyes widened. He stated those words with such authority and seriousness that my willingness to bolt away faded. I was left in a ball of spiraling defeat. I clenched my fist and slowly witnessed him closing the door whilst keeping his blank eyes on me. He reminds me of someone, and I absolutely resent him for it!
As the door completely closed, a faint thump echoed. He locked the door, and that enraged me further. I walked up to the wooden hatch and kicked it so loud, hoping he heard it. I then exhaled loudly and looked around in panic. All I could ever think of right now is Avery that I didn't even give a damn about the rundown lay out of the room.
"Damn it! Damn it!" I held my hair and pulled it like a confused toddler.
What happened back then kept replaying in my mind.
I definitely saw Avery, talked to her, and witnessed her fall from the edge of the rooftop.
Her horrified expression… Body covered in blood… Eyes opened widely…
Where the hell did her body go?! From the height of six stories, though disheartening… it's impossible to survive such a height. Besides, I saw her limbs, and they're all twisted. There's no way she'll be able to go walking around asking for help.
Still, that's the only explanation. I don't believe in Principal Gourd's bullshit about Avery's nonexistence. He's probably high on drugs, considering his rotting annoying face. Bottomline is, I have to get the fuck out of here. I need to find an escape.
I looked around again and my eyes were pinned on the door. I tried to slide it open but it is indeed locked, and very much tightly at that.
Fuck! Why would he lock it?! What if he forgets about me?
"Shit… shit… shit…" I frantically turned it, pulled it, and toiled it, but it still wouldn't bulge.
I found myself shaking my head, giving up the idea of escaping through that. shook my head and hit the handle after giving up. So, I looked for another possible loophole and looked around the room, squinting my teary eyes and not letting a single corner escape. There's a pile of old, wooden chairs that are either broken or filled with scribbles. It's stacked atop each other, creating this massive illusion of Mt. armchairs. If things were normal, I wouldn't bother going near this dirty and dusty shit since it certainly has that cursed ring to it, but I did so anyway in order to find something useful.
I trudged towards the contraption and saw the spare parts sticking and lying around. These woods can be used to either knock the door down or… I looked beside me, where the only source of light had presence. I can use it to knock the window down.
I squinted my eyes as the sunlight hit me. I saw thousands of flying dust casually flying around. Don't they ever clean this room? I ended up sneezing, but scratch that notion. I hurriedly stepped forward and looked outside the window. It's a pretty long fall, but thank God there's some edges I can use as stepping stones.
Now, I've never tried climbing a school building before, but there's a first for everything, right? Determined, I walked back and picked up some sharp shards of metal and wood from the broken armchairs. I rummaged on the cabinets next to the chairs too to check for something that can help me rappel down this shit.
Black curtains are there, and there are tons of them stacked atop each other. I braced myself and pulled it one by one, dragging along some dust and with it. I screeched when a pair of cockroaches climbed out, but I quickly pulled myself together and set my goals clear before my fear.
"Not bad.," I said to myself as I held the dusty curtains. Minutes later, I tied up the ends of the cloth to create a long stretch of cloth rope. This will ensure I won't fall flat with my face first.
I just need some tools that can help me secure this thing to my waist. A lonesome wooden cabinet next to the blackboard with some unimportant murals. I opened it boldly, hoping not to meet anymore creepy crawlies.
Thankfully, there's none because there's something else inside. I rummaged inside but only old glass bottles with nothing inside were there, sitting with a layer of dust covering their rims. Nothing's helpful there, or so I thought until I saw some science-y tools that I usually only see in science labs during boring chemistry classes. There's some sharp tools and pins that I could utilize. I took it all and laid it next to each other before securing my entrapment.
…
After all is done, the only thing left for me is rappelling outside the window, but there's an obstacle before I reach that point. The cross-section window bars. I have to knock them over.
I'm sorry, Jesus.
It's now or never.
I picked one of the more stable chairs and propped it up the window. Slowly but surely, I pulled it open, and saw the sunny yet gloomy weather. Everything outside is drenched because of the swift patter earlier, but now that things are turning dry, I feel even more worried.
I tightly clasped the metal bar and positioned myself next to the only exitway. The bars are rusty, covered in metal mold, and would definitely crack once I hit it. I just need to do it lightly in order to keep things silent.
