Chapter 1 - One

Deep in the heartlands of the plains lay a fractured kingdom, one rife with hatred and corruption. For centuries, this kingdom stood strong as the barrier between the mortal realm of humanity and the immortal realm of the Gods. The pantheon of the Gods was once a pillar of support for all those that needed it, now, however, it was a symbol of the tyranny that the Gods had wrought against humankind.

Ever since the fateful day now known as 'The Corruption', humanity and the Gods have been in an everlasting struggle of constant warfare. The mortal dominion of man fought tooth and nail for their very survival and existence, whilst the Gods fought to destroy all that humankind had created, believing it to be tainted.

As the centuries passed, and the war raged on, the Gods slowly pushed humanity into hiding, forcing them to simply stay within the walls of their once mighty cities, and very rarely venturing out into 'the wild lands'.

As al hope seemed to be lost, and all resistance futile, one lonely prince would change the tides of war, bringing a tidal wave of fury down unto the Godly immortals.

This prince's name was Arthur.

-----

Within the continent of Pangea, four kingdoms stood proudly in the name of humanity, all claiming to be the protectors of the mortal realm. However, as the years passed and the Kings came and went, the four fabled kingdoms of legend slowly lost all they had ever built to the God's resentful armies of old. These kingdoms, once the picture of power and grace, slowly descended into civil strife and petty political grudges, making the life of the God's that much easier.

One young man, despite all that stood in his way, was determined to save his home and repair the damages done by those in power who were incompetent enough to allow it in the first place. The Crown Prince of the Kingdom of the mountains, also known as Arthur, sat idly on his bed, waiting to be summoned forth by his guard, the name of whom he had already forgotten, to the last place he wanted to be. Arthur was twiddling his thumbs on his bed whilst wearing his elegant royal regalia, nerves and anxiety quickly consuming him.

Just as Arthur was about to attempt running away for the first time, he heard a knock on the door to his room, "My Prince, his majesty, Andragoras III awaits your presence in the great hall. The guests have all arrived and are eager for your appearance." The Prince, hanging half out his window, heaved himself back into his room and over to his mercury mirror to look at his slightly dishevelled hair. With an exasperated sigh, he simply gave up and continued on his way to the door, and onwards to what he would later describe as 'social hell'.
