I couldn't contain myself that night when I learned the reason why my Mom wanted to talk to me. That was the start of my rebellion against her. That same night, I met Leigh because we both rejected the men our parents wanted to introduce us to. That was the purpose of that grand party. Matchmaking. Fortunately, we were able to find a way to ruin that night.
After Mommy told me that she'll introduce me to someone for possible marriage, we quarreled and I went berserk. I left my Mom and ran off to Hotel's top floor crying. I was screaming unintelligible words at the top of my lungs when Leigh showed herself and accused me of disturbing her peace.
We didn't like each other at first mainly because we don't really like socializing. We both preferred to be alone. I'm aloof to social climbers while she's nonchalant. We were just forced to attend the party because of our parents. She also found out the reason why she was there that night that's why she went to the top floors and tried to hide.
When we realized that we were both against it, we came to an idea. We ruined the party by pressing the fire alarms. We were both laughing and were thrilled about what we did. No one found out that we were the ones who did it because Leigh was good at hiding from security cameras.
Though that didn't stop our parents to introduce us to a possible groom in the next days, we still find our ways to sabotage those days.
I smiled. That was the first time I accepted someone's offer of friendship. But I immediately lost that smile when I felt the strange look of who I was again because I returned to the present.
Shit. I stood up and pulled myself away from everyone's sight. I hate it.
I found myself in a place where there were very few people. I can even clearly hear two men talking. I can't see their faces because they are in a secret part where there is no light. They do not notice that anyone is listening to them. It wasn't my intention to overhear them talking though.
"At least I'm proud, Man."
"You're proud of what?" the other man asked with a laugh. "You're proud of your being a torpor?"
I didn't listen to that conversation because they weren't very interesting. Men. They seemed to also talk about nonsense.
Fortunately, I lost the creepy feeling I had earlier. I probably lost sight of the person who was giving me that horrible stare.
I looked at my phone when it rang with vibration. It's Trance.
"Yes?" I answered.
"Where are you? Mom's looking for you."
I rolled my eyes. That soon? I was just a moment away.
"Why? Can you tell her to just let me be? Because unlike her, I don't interfere or look for her when she leaves and suddenly disappears from my sight."
"Racy, you need to be here. Mommy needs to introduce you to a family," suddenly, I sensed something in what he said. Shit. This scene seems familiar.
"Oh, no, Trance. Don't tell me, she's still planning to arrange me to someone?" I fakely laughed, trying to joke about it so he can deny it.
He sighed. "Raciella, please."
His voice almost sounded pleading, confirming my suspicion. I gritted my teeth and lost my cool.
"No, Trance! I'd rather not show up! Damn it, even if all your eyes are white I won't show up, do you understand?"
"Raciella—" I cursed to cut him off and turned off my phone. So that is why! I knew it!
She's still up for this! Dad told her one of his Will for me before he died. That is why she tried to introduce me to a possible binding marriage before! The reason Daddy gave the condition that I have to get married before I acquire my inheritance is that he knows that I don't plan on getting married before twenty-five so I have to stay with my Mom. Mommy seems to dislike the idea of my independence after I turned twenty-five without getting married, so she was trying to marry off to someone she claims to be good for me.
True to my words, I didn't go back inside. Even if their eyes are white as they wait and find me, I won't go back.
Four years ago, I didn't bring myself to introduce myself to that man. As far as I know, he also left the country after that. So, whoever that guy was, he should have stayed wherever he went! And if he comes back for this again, damn him. I still won't marry him. Not now. Not ever.
I'd rather not be with whoever my mother wants me to marry. I don't need a man who can be manipulated by her. I've had enough of that witch. If I ever leave her grasp, I will make sure that she has no reason to control my life again. I was aiming for my freedom ever since I was a kid. Especially when Daddy died. She went overboard and manipulated my and my brother's lives.
Trance did not like it. But I also couldn't understand why Trance was still able to forgive her for interfering with his life. If she was able to manipulate my brother's life and thinks that she could also manipulate mine, she is mistaken. I won't let her.
I was about to walk out of the hallway when I met Mommy's bodyguards and they approached me.
"Miss Racy, Madame Raniella is looking for you."
I hissed.
"And so what?" I narrowed my eyes at them as they tried to touch me. "Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me!"
They didn't flinch. "But Madame Raniella ordered us to take you to her. Whether you want to or not."
I held back my curses and took a deep breath. "Fine! I'll follow you. Where can I find them?"
They didn't say a word. Neither answered. They're too smart!
"I don't want to draw attention and that will be only possible if you won't escort me. So just tell me where they are and I'll be right there," I said a little sour.
It's annoying that these people are doubting me. They seem to be treating me as a criminal because they were too alert that I might run away.
"You have to go in first Miss. They're right there in the hall."
I almost scolded the person who said that. He's even smarter than me! I held back my words even though I was already irritated.
"All right! But make sure to only follow me after five minutes or I'll run away! And don't stay too close!"
I turned around and did nothing but re-enter the hall. I immediately saw Mommy and some of her peers. Trance was also there. He was talking to some men as tall as him. Their backs are on me so it was easy for me to sneak in without them being aware. Fortunately, there are a lot of people in the center because of the people who are dancing so I hid from there. Geez! I'll be dead once they caught me!
"Hey, gorgeous Wanna have fun?" asked a man who's near me.
I raised two eyebrows and shook my head. "No."
I wanted to get rid of him but his body bulk was too convenient to cover me. Great! I'm gonna make him my shield while I'm getting away.
"Just dance with me," I said and put my hand on his shoulders. I can control him to evade my Mom's line of sight.
"Damn, you're sexy," he whistled as I danced. I almost rolled my eyes.
I was busy planning on how I could leave the party peacefully so that no one would notice but this brute in front of me is also busy landing his hand on my curves!
"Stop it, fvcker. I'm not in the mood to—"
"What? To do this," he cupped my butt. I quickly took his frantic hand and broke it. "Ah!" he gasped but that still wasn't enough for me not so using my knee, I hit whatever he was keeping under his pants. I moved away quickly after that.
"Darn horndog," I murmured as I avoided every person on the dance floor.
It was good that it is crowded so I can still easily hide.
"Why do you seem to be running away so much?" I quickly turned around when someone grabbed me by my waist.
What the hell? My eyes widened when he smiled at me.
"You?!" I gasped when I saw the man I had been running away from for a month.
What is he doing here? How did he get into this party?
"Easy," he threatened and pulled me tightly on his chest. "Just a shout of your name from me and you'll be found by the people you were trying to hide from. You better behave."
