After a warm bowl of noodles hit his stomach, Zhan Qipei felt himself relax.
He had taken on the task of washing the dishes, and Qiao Jing had returned to her own room.
As usual, Zhan Qipei prepared a cup of hot milk and brought it into Qiao Jing's bedroom, placing it on the table.
"Drink some hot milk before sleep. If you catch a cold, make sure to tell me. I'm just next door, and you can come find me," he said.
Qiao Jing hummed softly and turned a page of her medical book.
It was then that Zhan Qipei returned to his own room, set an alarm, and started working on the tasks for the next day.
When the alarm went off, Zhan Qipei immediately shut his laptop and tiptoed to the door of Qiao Jing's room.
He had set the alarm for the time Qiao Jing usually fell asleep. Every time it rang, he would go to her bedroom door to check on her.
After making sure there was no sound from inside, Zhan Qipei gently placed his hand on the doorknob and slowly turned the lock.
