Clyde's POV
I suddenly woke up early when my phone suddenly rang. I quickly answered the call without looking at my phone screen because I was still sleepy.
"Good morning, Mr. Wilson," said by a familiar voice.
"Kate? Is this you?" I ask.
"Yes, Mr. Wilson, this is your secretary. I just want to let you know that you have a meeting at 8 in the morning today. So, I think, you need to get out of your bed right now."
"How did you know I was still in bed?"
"Simple, you don't know who called you, meaning you just woke up and you just answered the call without looking your phone screen. Am I right, Mr. Wilson?"
"Fine, but you don't have to be formal with me, we're not in the office yet," I said.
"Even though, I am still your secretary and I need to act according to it."
"Okay, fine, I'm going to get up, okay, Ms. Taylor?"
"Great, see you in the office. I am now going to prepare all of your schedules this week."
"Okay bye. I love you, Ms. Taylor."
"Mr. Wilson, I told y —
"Please, come on."
"Okay, I love you too, Mr. Wilson. See you later. Bye."
After our conversation, I immediately got out of bed then I showered and cleaned myself.
A few minutes later, I went down the stairs and went to the car. While driving I thought about buying coffee first but when I checked my wrist watch it was almost 8 a.m. so I decided to go straight to the office. When I arrived at the office, I immediately saw Kate waiting at the entrance. I saw that she was frowning and her left eyebrow was raised.
"You're already late," Kate whispered.
"Sorry, I tried my best to arrive early; I didn't expect to be late."
"My goodness, Clyde. You know you have an important meeting today, right?"
"I know, so please, stop lecturing me. I thought I was your boss here? So, why are you acting like that?"
Kate suddenly stopped walking as we walking to the elevator.
"What's wrong? I thought we were already late?"
"You go into the conference room first, I'll be right back," Kate said.
Kate was about to turn around when I suddenly grabbed her left arm.
"Hey, did I offend you? Is it because of what I said? Sorry, I didn't mean that, Kate."
"It's okay, you're right, you're my boss. I should act the right way."
"Come on, Kate please, not right now. You know I have a meeting."
"I know, that's why I told you to proceed to the conference room. I just left some papers at the office; I need those. Don't worry, I am okay."
"Okay, but we are good, right?" I ask her.
I saw Kate smile and nodded so I just let her go back to the office and I went straight to the conference room. When I entered the conference room, I immediately saw some of my important business partners. I shook hands with each of them one by one. I told them to wait for a while because my secretary was just getting some important papers. While we were all waiting, a longtime business partner of mine suddenly spoke.
"Is it true, Mr. Wilson that you will get married to your secretary"?
I wasn't surprised by his question because our relationship wasn't private either, so probably someone had already told him.
"Yes, which is true, Mr. Hynes. Actually all of you are invited to our wedding."
I saw that they were happy with what I said and they seemed to accept my decision except for one of my business partners.
"Are you sure about that marriage thing, Mr. Wilson? You know it can affect your company especially and it has many competitors now. Not all of your business partners will accept your decision, they may leave once they find out," said Sandra. Actually, his father was my original business partner but he passed away two years ago so she took over her father's businesses.
"Thank you for the concern, but I know what I'm doing, Ms. Clark. And if there are people who won't accept my decision, I will accept that freely but my decision already settled," I explained.
I saw that Sandra was about to speak more when the door of the conference room opened, so everyone immediately settled down, especially Sandra, but hardly noticed that she raised an eyebrow when she saw Kate walk in front.
"I'm sorry if I'm late," Kate apologized in front and bowed to everyone.
"That is fine, let's just proceed to the meeting," I said to Kate and looked at her for a moment.
Our meeting lasted an hour before it ended. When it was over, everyone said goodbye except for Sandra. She approached and spoke to me. I noticed that Kate was looking at us but because she is my secretary she couldn't come near me.
"Is there a problem?" I asked Sandra.
"Nothing, I just want to tell you that I liked your proposal and that dad did not made a mistake when he chose you to be his business partner. You're great, Clyde," Sandra smiled at me.
"My pleasure, I am also very thankful that your dad trusted me," I answered.
"Maybe we can have some lunch or dinner sometimes? We haven't been able to do this for a long time, right?" asked Sandra.
"Um...I'm not sure yet. I need to confirm my schedule first. But don't worry; I let you know when I'm available."
"Okay, I hope you have time to fit me into your schedule," Sandra suddenly hugged me and left the conference room.
I saw that Kate was stunned by what she saw, so I immediately approached her.
"Hey, don't be upset. You know her and her father. They are great people."
"Maybe her father but not her, I have been noticing her actions towards you for a long time. It looks like she's attracted to you."
"Kate, what are you talking about? We are just business partners and if she is attracted to me, do I care? No, because I am not attracted to her. There's only one person I want to be with and that's you. So, don't get jealous, okay?"
"Promise me?"
"Yes, I promise."
"Okay fine, but I'm still upset with you."
"What? Why?"
She just rolled her eyes and left the conference room.
