"Elian is what?" Alya's eyes widened.
"He is trans," Nahuel replied.
"I don't quite understand that," Alya lowered her head.
They were sitting (Gabu included), under the shade of a huge tree near the shore of a lake with waters that reflected the multicolored sky. The midday sun rose above them.
"You…," Yaima spoke up, "didn't you know that?"
They all looked at the girl, intrigued.
"You didn't know?" Yaima seemed genuinely puzzled.
"You knew it?" Igneous asked incredulously.
Yama nodded. "I… I thought you guys knew that too."
"How are we supposed to know something like that?" Nahuel questioned.
The girl shrugged. "It seems to me that… that… that was quite obvious."
Gabu crossed his arms. "I don't understand all this fuss. It's not a big deal."
"It's not a big deal?" Alya looked at him.
"In my village, many are genderless until they find a mate to mate with," the furry creature replied.
