Luvia was on fire. The beautiful city was being reduced to ashes and smoke. How did they get to that? How did the Legion allow something like that? They were supposed to be humanity's ultimate defense. They were the warriors who defended life. They were not fighting for justice. They were justice.
'How did we get to that?' Silver wondered as she saw the flames under the night sky. Ash flakes fell on his forehead.
He was tired. The battle against the Marked Ones had lasted for hours. He had cuts and bruises on his skin. And there was something that hurt him more than his body: his heart.
Silver looked at the woman in ocher armor. His face darkened.
"Why, Betrix?" the man asked. "Because you did?"
The brown-eyed woman looked back at Silver. "Things are not what they seem," she was on guard, gripping the ochre-blade sword's handle tightly.
The then captain had sad eyes, full of pain. "Why did you have to betray humanity?"
