I motioned for Brie to follow me into the elevator, pressing the button for the first floor. As the elevator ascended, my heart pounded in my chest, each ding of the ascending floors sounding louder than the last. Finally, the elevator doors opened and we darted out, immediately ducking into the nearest corner, scanning for any TSA agents who may have spotted us.
"Okay, no one here," I said, looking at Brie. "Let's continue."
We slowly began to sneak towards the door, which led to chaos outside. As soon as Brie opened the door two inches from its frame, the sounds of bullets ripped through the sound barrier.
"Okay, it's a bit crazy out there. But we should be fine," Brie said with a smile that screamed for help. I sighed. "Just stay low, and we should be able to survive."
