Cahill
My eyes lazily flutter open, and the first thing I am greeted with is the harsh sun glaring at me through the ajar windows.
I tumble to the other side of my bed and try to shield the sun from the awful job it's doing so I can have some more sleep, but it doesn't stop.
"Who put the darn curtains out?" Groaning, I slap a hand over my forehead from the migraine I am having.
It feels fucked up that I have to get tortured like this.
"You passed out last night, after having too much to drink.." a familiar voice speaks up, and I swing my head around to see Simone, my beta, standing a few meters away from me.
"How long have you been here?" I inquire, rubbing my hands over my face to completely erase sleep off my heavy eyes.
"Since the early hours of this morning, Alpha Cahill," Simone answers, folding his arms across his chest. He's my beta, but nothing attached to that. We don't have any form of friendship, he just works as my second in command and obeys me dutifully.
I've never met anyone who's loyal like him. He's seen me at my worst, watched me do terrible things, yet hasn't changed his behavior towards me.
"You said I was drinking last night? Is that all?" I ask, tumbling off my bed and rising to my feet. I am shirtless, with just my pants on.
"You damaged some things whilst drinking," Simone maintains his position on where he's standing, with his face giving out that I did a lot more than damage.
"Get me a shirt," I order and Simone immediately obliges.
"Any news?"
"Joel Baratheon sent a message for you, he said to rebuild and enlarge the pack house since more than a thousand werewolves are occupying it, with more joining."
"You will call Elder Jaime and pass this order on to him,"
Simone gives me a firm nod.
"What have you heard about the Night Hollow pack?"
"There's been no feedback about Alpha Theodore. It was rumored he got stuck with Lunapeste and died in the wild. Good thing his wish of having your head on a spike didn't come to pass,"
"What about his men?"
"In war, fighting every day to claim the Alpha Throne. It was known that he never fathered any child nor had any relatives. Just a man who packed in random werewolves from overboard and formed a stupid pack."
"And Alpha Robb from the Full Moon pack in the north?" While making this inquiry, I stare at my reflection in the mirror, then smoothen my hair with my palm.
"He sent his greetings, said he should've been here but was too occupied dealing with one problem or the other. His men are fighting a battle with the Night Walker pack, in order to be the head pack of the North,"
"That's better. I do not want any frenemy in here," I state matter of factly. Because I do have numerous enemies, so many men would want to kill me to take over my position, but that will only be if they are capable of standing opposite me on the battlefield.
"His request is to send over 500 men to ally in fighting the Night Walker Pack," Simone adds.
"Do your best never to contact him again. He and his men can die for all I care." I say, meaning every word.
"Yes, Alpha Cahill," Simone nods his head.
"Is that all?" Inquires, snapping my gaze back to see him standing a few meters away from the door.
"Three rogues were found on the Eastern border," he makes this known to me.
"That shouldn't be any of my business. Did you kill them?"
"They're children, Alpha. The oldest is six while the youngest is barely two. It seemed their parents deliberately abandoned them, or they got eaten by dire wolves. The kids look completely fragile and skinny. Hungry with bruises all over their bodies."
"Where are they?"
"At the pack house, Alpha," he answers, touching the bridge of his nose.
"See to it that they get fed to satisfaction, afterward call in the pack doctor to tend to them."
"As you wish, Alpha," Simone says.
"What's my schedule for the day?" I ask, doing the buttons on my shirt.
"You canceled all meetings because of your honeymoon, Alpha Cahill," Simone reminds me, and instantly, something sharp comes slamming through my senses, reminding me that I am married.
Anger builds up inside of me, as my mind flashes through yesterday's incident.
Genova Brewer eloped with an ex-lover of hers and left me with her younger sister who I had no option but to marry in order not to face shame and humiliation.
For a moment I forgot all about this, and I seemed to be fine until I remembered.
"You're to leave with your Luna on your private jet by 1 pm this afternoon," Simone adds. "You already made reservations at Intercontinental Le Moana bora bora, French Polynesia,"
"Shit," I hiss under my breath, then push my fingers through my hair. Wanting so badly to move away from here and everything as fast as possible. The thought of going on a honeymoon with Mathilda Brewer makes me feel unsettled.
"Do you want to cancel it, Alpha?" Simone, who has been studying my facial expressions, asks.
"No, make this known to Mathilda. She should be ready an hour before due time."
"As you wish Alpha," Simone immediately slips his hand into the pocket of his suit jacket to bring out his phone. Before he can pop on the buttons, there's a knock on my door.
"It's me, Dolores, the Luna's maid,"
"Do come in,"
In comes the frightened-looking girl who cannot even raise her head up to look at me.
"What is it?"
"I'm here to let you know that Luna is missing. I made my way into her room and found her gone."
"What?" I thunder, perplexed.
"She's missing, Alpha,"
I cannot believe the little bitch ran away, after all the warnings I gave to her yesterday.
It seems the Brewer family is good at running away and hiding. It's in their blood.
One Brewer sibling broke my heart and ran away.
Now the youngest Brewer sibling has run away like her elder sister.
The damn family has been messing with me too much. And they'll all be punished for this.
"Take some men with you to find her and do not return until she's found." I bark out in anger. With my body invigorating for war.
"As you wish, Alpha," the maid stutters then scurries away in fear.
"Do you believe she's run away? Or she left to go pick up something at home?" Simone asks, "I can feel it within my wolf that the girl didn't run away, Alpha. She's probably too fragile and innocent, need I remind you of the threat to deal with her family, she'd have that at the back of her mind before making any careless decision," he adds.
"That I do not know, but what I know is that death will be the only penalty for the Brewer family, if Mathilda Brewer has run away like her elder sister," there's a flask of water on the nightstand, I grab hold of it and down the water within seconds.
Letting out a low breath, I turn towards the window where the sun is beginning to reduce its heat, contemplating if I should just punish the Brewer family, or kill them all off. They've messed with my feelings too much, and it seems they do know what the females in the family are doing.
The maidservant makes her way in again, making me wonder what she's up to.
"What is it this time?" I ask quietly, my patience already getting the best of me.
"Luna isn't missing, she left a short note on the side of her pillow stating she's having classes today," the maidservant responds, staring down at the floor in embarrassment, scared I will punish her because it was false news she came to spew.
There's silence for a while, and I am speechless for a few seconds. How dare she walk away from here and go to school without my permission?
Blood they say is thick, and it seems Mathilda Brewer is no different from her elder sister. They do like running off to meet with men.
"What would you have me do, Alpha?" Simone questions, curiously staring at me as he waits on my response.
"Head to her stupid school and pick her up. We have a honeymoon." I say, clenching my jaw in anger because I know she's sneaked out to go meet with her mate.
