"Do you even get interested in anything?" Mathilda questions, hands holding on to the straps of her backpack as we head towards my car. It's already 7 pm.
"I do not remember telling you that," I respond, jamming my fingers into my hair for the umpteenth time.
"I think we should go to the park." She suggests.
"Why?" I stop, then turn to her. I remember asking her if she has any favorite place she'd like me to take her and she shook her head no.
"Why the sudden change of plans?"
"I was thinking it wouldn't be so bad if we go there. I can't avoid that place forever just because it was me and Brandon's favorite place for hanging out." Mathilda gives out a slight shoulder shrug. And when she doesn't get any response from me, she adds, "we don't have to go if you don't want to. I wasn't supposed to ask anyway." Then she mutters the word 'stupid', under her breath.
