Alex was travelling quite a lot in South East Asia for business reasons and had many friends.
They weren't all great people , but they were the kind you could have fun with.
He was about to turn 31 in a few weeks , and that day he had a few meetings in Bangkok. After a couple of busy days he had a night out scheduled with some of his friends living in Bangkok.
While he was preparing himself to go out , showering and cleaning his teeth he assessed his current life . He was quite happy with it. He got to travel a lot , made decent money but he was not living of his passion for sport .
He always postponed the possibility to go all in into this kind of career . But the years passed by and as he was getting closer to 30 it just became purely unrealistic to ever consider becoming a professional athlete.
When he thought about it , becoming a professional player of football or rugby would probably not have fitted him. These sports are great, but to win titles you rely on the team, the coach and so many components.
Even as a huge fan of these sports, he would have rather relying only on himself to achieve success.
"Obviously my physical capabilities are not great, but if they were, would I have the mental strength to be successful ? " he wondered brushing his teeth and watching himself in the mirror.
"Bah, let's just get dressed and go out !"
He rinsed his mouth , dressed up and got himself on his way to meet his friends.
The 5 guys he was meeting this night were people he met along the his years living in South East Asia . Some lived in Thailand, others in neighbouring countries. They were all nice guys in their 30's, but some were real party guys! Alex even saw some of them taking drugs.
Alex was not really a big party guy, but when he was going out, he was going full blast ! He only tried drugs once and didn't like how it made him behave. He didn't like he was not controlling his body perfectly anymore in addition to the obvious health risk you take when having this kind of substances ! He decided he would never take some again !
He was reaching the lobby of his hotel took a Grab, the equivalent of UBER in South East Asia and headed to the restaurant he had an appointment at .
He was excited. He haven't seen his friends for quite some times , this night will probably be legendary !
"Damn Bangkok traffic is really something !" He said to himself while exiting the car. He reached a fancy restaurant and entered immediately. All his friends were already there and exclaimed a "finally !!! We thought you'd never come!!"
A few bottles were already on the table, giving the tempo for the night !
They laughed during the whole dinner, drank a lot of wine and even finished with a few shots.
It was safe to say everyone was having a good time and the night was expected to be long.
"What are we doing next guys ? " Max said.
" We don't meet that often, we should continue to party somewhere else ! ".
"Well , we could go to our usual place ? " Alex answered .
" Nah ! This night is special , let's try something we will remember ! Not this bar we always go to."
" Well I heard someone telling me about a creepy new bar. It just opened, and from what I heard it's quite an experience ! " Sony said.
Sony was the most extreme guy of the group. He was a nice person but tend to be extreme regarding parties.
After a couple a minutes discussing where they should go, they finally decided to go to the place Sony proposed. They paid their bills and laughed on their way out of the restaurant, joking about how stupid they were to follow Sony.
Alex was smiling, he was having a good time.
