Chapter 22 - The Party

"You are kidding, right? What do I want?" Raina scoffed at his question. She seemed to have caught a joke that Seth wasn't aware of.

"Yeah, What do you want? Let's get this over with!"

Raina's orange eyes glowed as she confronted him. "No. No. No. You are hiding the real question. What do you want?"

"What do you mean?"

"You are a vampire. One that I fear is a morgen vampire from the realm of Tascar. How did you get here? What do you seek so badly that made you cross realms?"

"...."

At first, Seth wore a cross face, but he couldn't hold it in any longer. He broke into fits of laughter. His giggles echoed throughout the room, taunting Raina.

She looked annoyed when she spoke. "What do you find funny?"

"Pardon me– hahaha. Do you really think I came here for a menacing purpose? Perhaps let's say, to end the world. Hahaha. Oh look, I'm the demon king. Roar!"

In an instant, Raina bashed him against the wall. Her strength proved far more than he could deal with.

As she stared straight at him, she gritted her teeth and heaved, "This is no time for jokes. Tell me the truth."

"Ok, I will tell you the truth. Sigh, just when I was having fun. Alright, I am a traveller. I believe that word holds a lot of statuses here."

Raina looked stunned as if she just witnessed the end of the world. Her voice quaked. "C-Come again."

"I'm a traveller. You know… wandering creatures anointed by the sky. Born to be an adventurer. I believe you know the myths surrounding us, right?" Seth questioned.

This was another thing he had come to learn in his time with Darla. Travellers had a status in this world. They normally appeared from nowhere and held great power, capable of overturning conflicts with a single sigh.

Lots of theories surrounded them, but a large percentage of Lycroft believed them to be anointed a god. It was this god that granted them realm-crossing powers.

Of course, Seth understood there was only a bit of truth mixed in the notion. Travellers were gamers. At least, this generation of travellers were gamers!

Seeing the look of disbelief on Raina's face, Seth said, "The fact I'm here physically is enough proof that I'm a traveller."

"Or it could be you found a way to realm-cross!" Raina retorted.

Seth smirked as he closed his eyes. "Which one are you willing to believe?"

He waited for a reply and when he could no longer feel the cold blade on his neck, he realized he has already gotten a reply. Opening his eyes, Seth straightened his cloak and maintained the victorious smile on his face.

Of course, he knew it was prickly to Raina, but it was too good of an opportunity to pass on.

"Then, why did you come here?"

"Believe it or not, I didn't come to find the thief that momentarily seduced me. I came to find Caleb. I have a letter for him." Seth presented the letter from his pockets.

Raina snatched it quickly. She opened the letter and read its content.

"Hmmm… I see. Old Helen has taken a liking to you. What did you do? Win over her daughter?"

"Something like that." Seth was quick to give a quirky reply.

"Hmm… this letter is good enough. Follow me, let's go find that bastard. I have two conditions. One, no funny vampire business. Two, if anyone asks, I didn't steal from you."

"The first condition is alright. The second… well about that. I can't lie. I'm a vampire saint. I took the oath."

Seth placed his right hand on his chest and pretended to be frightened by the idea of lying.

"You are a vampire-what?"

"Vampire Saint. Haven't you heard of them? My god, you are ignorant. We, vampire saints, are kind, honest, generous, and humble."

Raina flashed a look of disgust. "Stop bullshitting. I smell blood on you. Do we have a deal or not?"

Her sword beamed once again. Mana coiled around, forming a wisp that reached out for Seth.

Seth wasted no time with his response. "Yes, we do."

He thought to himself. 'Damn, she is no fun. F*ck!'

"Follow me. Let's meet the group."

Two hours later…

Seth eventually met with the illustrious Caleb. Unlike Seth imagined, Caleb was a handsome skinny dude with no apparent scars on his face.

He looked so thin that Seth wondered if he could defy gravity. However, whenever he spoke, there was a hint of intelligence and foxiness mixed in his words.

"So, Seth, since you are tagging along with us. It will be nice to know you." The man named Caleb led on.

"Sure, what do you want to know?"

Seth had figured this would happen. After all, he had the backings of Madam Helen. It was hard to keep their curiosity to themselves.

"What's your type? The manly ones or the feminine ones?" Caleb shot off instantly with a confusing question.

The smile on his face meant that Seth was in deep trouble. His mates, including Raina, giggled as if they knew where this was going.

Of course, Seth wouldn't be taken down easily!

He innocently asked, "Uhh.. what are we talking about?"

"Tch, you are no fun. How do you like your weapons?"

"I guess I am most familiar with crossbows," Seth announced.

As a vampire, he never bothered to master any weapon. He was equipped with deadly combat arts that only the noblebloods possessed, but clearly, in this realm, that was not enough.

He could bully the regular humans, but not the special ones. Not to talk of the demonic beasts.

So, Seth decided to learn how to wield a crossbow, since it gave it a memorable experience.

"A crossbow, huh. That's a cowardly weapon," hissed another seated on the table.

The man named Burke was physically built. He held a physique that could only be befitting of an ogre. Even while he sat, his shadow served as a canopy over the rest.

Looking at him, Seth sometimes wondered whether his eyes were glitching or if Burke was the child of a giant.

But what made the situation sadder was that Burke was a simpleton. The exact incarnation of the phrase "all muscles, no brain.". It took Seth five minutes with the group to figure that out.

Apart from Burke, Caleb, and Riona, there was a fourth member of the party.

The man was always sleeping but a mystical aura radiated around him. This aura gave the illusion of a sleeping tiger. For that reason, Seth made up his mind to distance himself from this person. His name was Trystan.

Caleb placed his hand on his lips before saying, "Raina will hook you up with a nice crossbow. Hmm.. it seems it is getting late. Get some rest. We leave at night."

They stood up and left the Adventure Outpost. Seth was just right behind them. The party walked towards an unfamiliar inn and went straight to their rooms. They stayed in two rooms. Raina had one to themselves while the men slept in a single room.

'Why are they going at night?' Seth wondered.

Isn't it logical to travel by day and sleep by night? But an irregular factor caused the party to reverse this notion. He wondered what that was.

After a quick two-hour nap, the others awoke Seth and gathered together. They went to the backyard of the inn where their horses were.

The vigorous animals responded with passion at their mere presence. There were four horses, one for each member.

Caleb said, "Trystan, Seth is riding with you. Eeya! Let's go."

Without further ado, they jumped on the horses and galloped out of Cravel.
