I woke up, lying on a bed, the blinding lights of the room hurt my eyes.
Then I heard voices.
"Congratulations Miss! He's Awakened his elemental affinity."
"Yes, But awakening their affinity doesn't result in them passing out I believe?"
The voice of a man and a woman, conversing with one another, the man seemed to possess some dignity in his voice but the woman seemed to be angry, or shocked.
"That happens occasionally when the level of the awakened affinity is high, you should be excited!"
There was a discernible change in the tone of the woman's voice, it was laced with excitement…and greed now.
"Does that mean the government will provide extra funding for the orphanage?"
…what?
'Wait? Orphanage?'
I asked myself, still unadjusted to the blinding lights.
The man replied to her question.
"Well yes, And because his affinity grade is high there is also a high chance that the government will also provide his tuition in one of the best academies in the world. Because of the war, the government is trying to get as many talents on their side as quickly as possible so I can confirm that the-Oh he's awake."
The man figured out I was awake, and perhaps knew I was listening to the conversation,
I tried to get up but failed miserably. Pain assaulted my body, especially my head.
"Don't wake up just yet, Your body currently needs all the rest it can get."
He said while puncturing my shoulder with a syringe. As soon as the liquid in the syringe was inserted into my body…I felt peaceful. The pain had disappeared, and a slight numbing feeling followed.
'Anaesthetic…'
I thought…But I could not be more wrong.
I felt lethargic and was able to quickly conjure up the identity of the liquid in the syringe. It was a sedative and a very powerful sedative at that.
I quickly fell asleep, helpless.

[Next day.]
The next thing I knew, immediately after I woke up I was leaving the hospital where I was staying, with the woman who was conversing with the man previously. I stayed quiet, still trying to understand what the fuck was going on. I was still affected by the sedative I had received. I didn't put up a fuss because the woman was obviously my guardian, lest the hospital wouldn't have let her take me.
Although now…I guess I do have a general idea of where I am. My body is smaller, it feels foreign, and even the scars I was so used to have disappeared, furthermore…Everything looks too advanced. This is not the Earth I am familiar with. I guess the isekai genre I used to love at some point was real…I have been reincarnated in another body, in another world.
I think.
Just when I shook the lethargic feelings off…I noticed we had arrived at a train station.
'Holy shit. This is a train station?'
I gasped…finding the scene different. Very different. Although I did know this world was more advanced…but damn.
Those didn't look like trains, but floating behemoths of steel. Blitzing through the sky, with no connections whatsoever from what I could see.
"Alan, wait here until I get the tickets."
Alan…so that's my name. I quietly waited for the woman to return, quietly observing the surroundings.
I just sat on a bench while she went away to get tickets. And I collected my thoughts. This was all too sudden…But why am I so calm? This is strange…even for me.
'Okay, this is your second chance at life, By the words of the doctor from before this world is a fantasy type of world, Science fiction or maybe even Magical.'
I thought.
I believed this thought because I had never seen a doctor spew out bullshit like high elemental affinity in my old world. Upon my Realization, I instantly became excited.
How childish of me. But could It be helped? This is the dream of a novel reader.
'Wait if this is a fantasy world then... this should work, right?'
Taking a huge breath to contain my excitement I yelled in my mind.
'Status!'
And then…it popped up in front of me. I could barely hold my excitement in check.
'It exists!'
I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited.
I immediately called down and checked my status screen

I was immediately satisfied but also felt familiar with the status screen. It reminded me of how most authors would show status screens in their novels…but this seems familiar. Far too familiar…It's from a novel I have read recently but I can't just put my finger on it…
The Ultimate Sin? I think that was the name.
I brushed it off because it was just a status screen and many could be similar. Then I checked my status screen and found myself to be E+ Ranked borderline D- Rank. I am unaware if this is considered strong in this world, so further investigation is necessary before I do anything.
"Let's go,"
Miss Penny, the woman, had appeared and grabbed my hand forcefully and dragged me to the train.
'Harsh.'
I remarked in my mind, I'm not stupid enough to say it out loud.
I followed Miss Penny to our seats. The interior of the train was well designed, but I cared not for appearances right now.
I sat down on my seat, beside Miss Penny and rejoiced in the comfort. This meager train seat was even more comfortable than the chair and furniture in my office.
The train started to move, and I aimlessly gazed at the outside world from the train window, trying to discern whether or not I had read about this world in a novel before.
I faintly recall reading a novel before dying…but everything is so cloudy in my head, and it constantly aches.
"...!"
A pure white building that pierced the skies entered my field of vision…and all of the dots in my cloudy mind connected. I now knew where I was…when I laid my eyes on that iconic building.
The expression on my face changed…it was not excitement, neither was it doubt…but rather…
It was horror as I 'Realized' what world I had been transported to. My previous hunch seemed to be correct…
...Shit.
