Josh continued to hold the painting in his hand with that shocked look still on his face when Kol stood up and came to stand close to him. He took the painting from Josh and took a close look at it.
"Why do you have that look on your face, is she your type?" Kol asked, still looking at the painting.
Josh just sighed and took the painting from him as he shook his head. He wondered how Kol effectively worked on cases with that attitude.
"The girl in this painting actually looks like Ms Sindell Kol, I went to visit her recently to check how she was doing and saw she had a new look." Josh explained.
"At first I was very surprised but then I shook it off as just a new look or something." He added.
They turned around as Mr Cooks came out from his room all dressed in jean shorts and a t-shirt. He walked up to them and stretched his neck to see what painting they were looking at.
" Ohhh that's Meridith." He said.
"Meridith?" Josh asked.
"This looks like someone I know." He added.
"Who is this Meridith?" Kol asked.
" She was a witch, a special one at that." Mr Cooks said.
"And by was, you mean in the past right?" Josh asked.
"Yes, thousands of years ago, but in my vision, I saw her come back in this times, and more powerful than ever." He said and picked another picture.
"This is Adonis, he is a mage that died thousands of years ago and has also risen, his new life will take a life each everyday to be fully his." Mr Cooks said.
Josh took the picture from Mr Cooks and looked at the man in the painting. He had a dark aura to him, even in a painting.
"Don't tell me you believe this crap." Kol said, turning to look at Josh.
"You've got better ideas?." Josh asked him before turning to see other paintings.
"Tell me about this Meridith." Josh said, turning to face Mr Cooks.
"Well let's begin." Mr Cooks said and went to sit down.
Long ago, in the time of witches and magic, even before the conjuring days, there was a forest where only a particular type of witches resided. It was called " The white forest", named by folks because of the features of the people that resided there. In the forest, witches that had long white hair and silver eyes resided in secret and hidden away from the world. They were made to live that way because of their immense powers, they were like offsprings of
a god that once walked the earth. In this forest, a witch just came off age and was initiated into the circle. But shortly after that, she fell in love with a demon that walked the forest at night seeking energy to steal and bore a child for him. According to the witches rules, this was an abomination and was punishable by death so they summoned her to the circle and gave her a death sentence that would be effective after she has had the child. The demon heard of this and fought to protect his woman and child but sadly, she died during childbirth and left the child to be raised alone by the witches. The witches struck a deal with the demon to let the child grow up normally amongst them like every normal witch in exchange that he never showed his face again. The demon agreed but still saw his daughter in secret with only the leader of the circle's knowledge.
Long before the child was born, a prophecy was given concerning the child. The child was said to be a Voodoo Child, a child born of a witch and the devil that would bring destruction and pain to the world. A child that will bring anguish and death wherever her feet went. The parents still chose to give this child life and had the child. The death wave started even with her own mother. A child that killed her own mother even by birth.
The child continued to grow in power and the people continued to live in fear as she continued to grow stronger and stronger by the day.
So one day, they came together and plotted to nominate her to be the king's personal counsel just to send her away from the forest. Unluckily for them, the king picked another mage instead to be his counsel.
" So this Meridith is a child that was said to bring death wherever she went." Josh asked thoughtfully.
"Yes." Mr Cooks answered.
"Why is this Adonis guy here?" Kol asked.
"He's here for the Voodoo Child, she's the one in that painting." Mr Cooks said , pointing at the painting of the woman with white hair and silver eyes.
"This is Riya Sindell." Josh whispered thoughtfully.
"I can show you the vision I had vividly if you don't mind." Mr Cooks offered.
"Sure." Josh said and came to sit in front of Mr Cooks.
Kol joined him shortly and Mr Cooks held out his hands to them. They put their hands in both of his hands and he closed his eyes. They followed suit and closed their eyes too.
In the vision, there was fire all over Sleepy Hollow, the town was literally burning down with dead and shredded bodies littering the streets, blood stained walls and windows and doors. The streets were littered with ugly looking creatures tearing people in two and screeching wildly. Sleepy Hollow was bloody and dark and in ruins. Standing there in the middle of it all was a woman in white hair and silver eyes and the man in the painting called Adonis.
Josh and Kol jerked backwards as they broke contact with Mr Cooks and removed their hands. Kol was shaking physically with eyes wide as saucers while Josh just kept staring into space like he was in a trance.
"Did you say she has reincarnated and is back to this times?" Josh said, finally speaking up.
"Yes definitely, I saw it myself in my visions." Mr Cooks replied.
"And the woman in this painting is Meridith?" Josh asked.
"Yes." Mr Cooks replied.
"Okay thank you for your help." Josh said and signaled Kol to get up.
They left the building still shaken from what they had seen in the vision.
"What if that dude was just messing with our heads?" Kol asked as they got into the car.
"You think?" Josh asked, turning to face him.
"We should focus on finding clues on the case and look at the case from a new perspective Kol." He added and started the engine.
Two blocks away on the rooftop of a building, Voleth Meir stood still in her jacket, smoking and watching as the officers left.
"What a headache." She said and sighed.
She dropped her cigarette and jumped off from the top of the building and disappeared mid-air. She reappeared and landed in Mr Cooks' living room. Mr Cooks almost passed out due to shock when he saw her.
"Kayla." He whispered in shock
"Do you have to be an idiot till the end?" Voleth Meir asked as she approached him.
"I'm s.....s.....s.... sorry." He said as he fell to his knees in front of her.
"Don't kill me." He added.
"Stop running your mouth to the cops, unless you want to be back under your gravestone." She said casually and vanished.
Jimmie looked around wildly to be sure she was gone and then laid down on the floor facing the ceiling and lost in his thoughts. He remembered back then when he had worked for a cartel in Italy just to make ends meet and take care of his sick mother. He had gone to an operation one night and remembered dying. But when he woke up, he saw himself in a dark room laying down on a metal table with Kayla standing above him and smiling.
She had explained to him that she was working on a new spell to raise the dead and bought his body from a mortuary attendant since his only family was his sick mother who couldn't even recognize anyone and just sat there staring into blank space in a hospital bed.
He became her personal Hitman in exchange for bringing him back to life and giving him a comfortable life. His mother died a year later so she let him go all of a sudden, saying she had something more interesting to do than play villain. He had come all the way to Sleepy Hallow and went into the seminary before he was ordained a priest years later. He remembered how renewed he had felt then, like he hadn't committed any sin in the world. He even made a friend while in the seminary. Jonas was a good friend then, though a little reserved but he was good.
Jimmie's eyes filled with tears as he remembered his friend who was just killed this morning.
"Rest well my friend." He whispered.
Thinking carefully now, he regretted leaving him and the church to practice dark magic like Kayla taught him all those years to protect himself on a mission. Kayla had basically bestowed some powers on him that enabled him to cast basic spells and see visions. These powers he had used all these years to make ends meet by reading people's fortune and what not.
Jimmie didn't get all he said about Meridith in his vision, he had gotten it from Kayla. She'd always tell him stories from her past once in a while for fun and Jimmie had picked everything he said about the witches and the prophecy from her. He knew right from the onset that those weren't just stories she told him for fun when they were alone, he knew they were real stories about her and the life she had led all alone before now.
The only part of what he told the cops that was truly in his vision was the reincarnation of Meridith and the resurrection of the mage Adonis.
He turned to look at where she was once standing before she vanished and sighed.
"We meet again Mistress." He said and smiled.
Voleth Meir appeared some blocks away from the house and looked back at the building she just left.
"What a pest." She said and smiled before she vanished again.
