Chapter 5 - Living Together

Albert thought he could back off time, but it turned out that things were much more chaotic than he expected. Louis said that a few nights ago a suspicious man was pacing in front of their headquarters. The man looks like an ordinary man. However, for a group of mobsters, it is not. Louis suspects the man is part of an undercover police force.

At Josh's behest, Albert must hastily move into a house away from downtown. He got out of the black van while carrying two suitcases after making sure Anas got out of the car. The man walked first, he cleaned the snow that was on the stairs with his feet. It was the worst December start of Albert's lifetime.

"Watch your steps, there's a lot of snow here. Don't let you fall," Albert said, dragging the suitcase and trying to find the door lock in the jacket pocket.

"I am blind. Have you forgotten?" The girl immediately stopped. She held the stick Albert had given him yesterday lazily. What should he watch from the darkness that pervades hers?

Albert sighed, he relented, and turned to the girl.

"What do you think the wand is for?" asked Albert, not needing an answer.

Anas did not answer. Dia was annoyed with Albert who was always cynical and often angry. Anas felt like the man had to take care of himself. Someday when Peter comes home, she will complain to his brother about all of Albert's annoying treatment.

"Hold tight. If you fall, get up on your own." Albert grabbed Anas's hand and he left it wrapped around his left arm.

Anas accordingly. He immediately tightly grasped Albert's arm and before long the man's legs moved.

"Slow down, Al!" protested Anas, clutching his arms and pulling on Albert's jacket as she felt like he was being 'dragged' because the man's steps were too big and fast.

Albert clucked. "Troublesome."

"Indeed! Indeed! I am troublesome. So, just give me back!" said Anas, as soon as she heard Albert complain. She wondered, why did Albert's attitude now become so cold?

However, instead of a terrifying snuff, Albert simply sighed. He will try to be patient for some time until Josh comes and takes the girl away. So, Albert took his footsteps.

"There are three steps," Albert said.

"High?"

"No."

"I don't like this stick," said Anas, moving the black stick, creating a rowdy sound as it collided with a wooden ladder.

"You should be able to learn to walk without anyone else. Have you always been led by people?" Albert asked. He thought Peter was spoiling Anas too much. Although he knew the girl deserved the help of others for the rest of her life, Peter should have been able to educate Anas not to be this sweet.

"Of course, the good people around me will willingly lead this blind girl," Anas replied, implying innuendo to Albert.

Albert did not answer. The more he ignited the emotion, the more irritating the girl's behavior became. If he could swap positions with George, the reliable robber who deftly takes care of children and the elderly. Sometimes Albert wondered why a man like George chose this illegal job when he was able to build a better life like any normal person? Like people whose hearts still function.

"Is there no heating? It's so cold, Al. I can freeze to death!" Anas complained, holding his teeth when she arrived at the room.

"There is. I'm going to turn this on. You just step three or four more times to get to bed. There's a blanket in there, wrap your body with it," Albert said, then immediately closed the door tightly and sighed with relief.

The girl treated him like a maid. Albert stepped into the small room next to Anas' room and turned on the heater so that the girl would no longer fuss. He will not allow this situation to last long and if forced, he will make Anas an independent girl even with a blind condition.

Albert quickly dropped off the rest of the items from the car and arranged them at home. After nearly an hour of cleaning the house, Albert went to the kitchen to pick up food. There was a burger he had bought at a ready-to-eat restaurant.

As Albert was about to unwrap the burger, he glanced at Anas's room. He put the burger back on the table and picked up another one for Anas. Albert didn't want his transparency to starve the girl to death. So, it was better for him to feed Anas first in the hope that the girl would get full quickly and go to bed earlier.

"There's a burg—"

"Al, do you have any more blankets? The heater may not work or may I ask for a warm drink? I'm really cold," Anas said when she heard the door open. She left only a head that was not covered in a blanket. The position of the body is like a fetus in the womb, a thin blanket is unable to withstand the teeth of the winter.

"Can you stop treating me as a messenger? You're a guest, Anas. You were entrusted to me and it would be very disrespectful if you continued to trouble me," Albert said, his tone low and firm. His anger was starting to re-ignite. For the rest of his life, he was only willing to be ruled by Josh and his late mother.

"But to whom else would I ask for help if not you?" Anas raised the blanket to the nose to dampen the cold and resist the vibrations of her lips.

"Anas, how long have you lived with winter? Use your brain to think! Learn to be independent! " Albert snapped, from the threshold.

Anas was silent. Maybe Albert did not know the blindness she had overcome managed to end the world she had only been stepping on for a few years. Anas took pains to sit down. She didn't know where Albert was, so the girl just looked down.

"Al, can't you pity a blind girl like me? Am I not the sister of your friend? Why does it seem like you hate me so much? Why are you always angry with me?" Anas said, his voice rising from the outpouring of emotion.

"Obviously because you're so spoiled! Peter was too stupid to take care of his sister," Albert said.

Anas raised his head when Peter's name was mentioned. He didn't like Albert's words. No one can demonize Peter. No one deserves to insult the angel of her life.

"You're outrageous, Al. You can insult me, I'm used to it, but don't involve Peter. How many times have I said, if you mind my presence, please just return me home with Aunt Emma! Do you think I'm happy to stay with you? I have no idea why Peter could be friends with such a haughty man like you!" Anas replied as if she was exerting all the overflow of emotions in her. It's not about her, it's the anger that Albert mentioned Peter by name.

Both of Albert's jaws hardened. To him, that girl is already outrageous and does not know herself.

"Why are you silent? If you feel guilty, call Peter and apologize to him," Anas said.

"Stop talking about that guy!" Albert threw the burger package on the floor strongly, he stepped up and kicked Anas's suitcase until it hit the wall. "If I'm mean to you, I'll let you fall on the slippery stairs, I won't feed you a decent place to live, and if you still insist on going home, please. To walk from the yard into the house you can't afford it, Anas. You have to stop being arrogant. Know your position because the theme you see today is still me who is good. "

Unconcerned with the paled look on Anas' face, Albert immediately went out of the room and forgot his intention to feed the girl. He won't be able to control his emotions if he stays home. Albert took the gun and kept it in his inner jacket pocket. He needs fresh air, he needs something to shift his consciousness.

Albert locked the door of the house from the outside and left Anas alone in the cold.

***

He didn't understand why Anas' voice continued to grow as his consciousness faded. This time the alcohol made his mind worse. Albert didn't go straight to the room or lie down on the sofa his legs brought the man to Anas' room.

Anas curled up in a blanket became Albert's first sight. Now Albert understood, that girl is the source of all the eternal thoughts. The man sat slowly as he pulled out a gun from his inner jacket pocket. He stared long enough at Anas who was asleep before putting the tip of the rifle on the girl's forehead.

"To hell with Josh's orders."
