Have you ever been betrayed?
It's an evolution. Like the sparks before a raging fire, screaming, demanding, to eat. And all the while, you watch, scared, tucked in, together with the memories, each playing again, and again; each memory more daunting than the last. The flames threaten to consume you. And then something inside of you rages alongside the fire, nudging you closer to the madness; until eventually you break.
And from the ash and soot you claw your way out, weakness shedded, blood cold, as the darkness in you takes it's first breath. It's a sharp, vile breath of a man willing to jump into the abyss he was so afraid of before. And the abyss welcomes him.
Suddenly, in their eyes you're not the hero they want anymore—you're the one they deserve.
