Chapter 5 - A family dinner

Time is the measurement of how long things take to happen. It is what allows us to tell the past from the present, and plan for the future. It is the ultimate measure of our progress as a species and the most important thing in the world. Time is what allows us to know what is right, and what is wrong.

After taking a shower, Haste felt so refreshed that he wanted to sleep immediately. A lot of things happened today.

He first managed to kill a monster, followed by a zone boss. And even though he used cheap tricks to kill the boss, he still did it.

And after all, it wasn't the process that was important, it was the result.

At least for this particular situation.

He also managed to level up 11 times, thus bringing him to level 13. And since he now had the time to look at his status, he didn't hesitate to do that.

Name: Haste Laborde

Status: Ordinary

Level: 13

EXP: 147/2015

Blessing: God of Time

Skills: Sword slash, Time manipulation, 8 slots remaining

Stats: Strength 6, Stamina 4, Agility 8, Vitality 4, Magic Power 11

Free stats points: 110

Seeing his status, Haste had a big smile on his face. He never expected to see that ever. Even in his wildest dreams.

But here he was, having what he had hoped for a long time.

Time pulled him out of his misery.

He then looked at the free stats points.

'I don't know what I should improve,' Haste thought. 'I don't think there's a big need to improve my agility. I'm already fast enough thanks to my time manipulation. Vitality too. There's no need since I can just dodge the enemy, so I won't be hurt easily. And since my body will become stronger as I level up, there's no need. So it leaves me with strength, stamina, and magic power.

'Strength, even though is useful, isn't important right now either. Thanks to the momentum I gain with my speed, I can kill the monsters easily. So the best choice would be to improve my Stamina and Magic power.

'My stamina will help me fight longer while being able to endure more things, while my magic power will help me use my spells longer. So I must focus on them now.'

Even though Haste thought that, he didn't only put stats in those two areas. Even though they were the most useful ones for him at the moment, it maybe wouldn't be the case in the future.

So he tried to use his stats wisely. And his status looked like this in the end.

Name: Haste Laborde

Status: Ordinary

Level: 13

EXP: 147/2015

Blessing: God of Time

Skills: Sword slash, Time manipulation, 8 slots remaining

Stats: Strength 26, Stamina 34, Agility 18, Vitality 14, Magic Power 51

Free stats points: 0

He put his free stats points according to the ladder he did just a moment ago.

Forty points went to magic power while thirty went to stamina. Twenty points went to strength, while ten points went to agility and vitality respectively.

He didn't know if it was better to be specialized only in one thing or be a jack of all trades, but at least like this, he was sure that he would be able to overcome a lot of situations alone.

He didn't have any comrades, so being alone wasn't a bad idea either.

And the moment he allocated his stats points, he felt sudden energy rising inside his body.

It was so exciting that he almost completely forgot that he had a family dinner in a few minutes.

And the knock on his door didn't help things either.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock* Knocks resounded before a female voice came from behind the door. "Young Master, your parents, and your brother are waiting for you in the dining room. Please, we shouldn't make them wait."

Haste could hear the annoyed tone at the end, making him a little upset.

He didn't want to attend this family dinner anymore. But unfortunately for him, in the Laborde family, the family always needed to eat together at dinner.

In a normal family, this type of rule would be benefic since they could share a good time.

However, in his family, the only thing they shared was the table.

Haste was eating on his own while his parents and brother were always discussing with a smile on their faces. Of course, his parents also always compared him to Jil.

It was seriously annoying at the beginning and Haste had developed a serious problem regarding that since he almost didn't have any confidence in himself anymore.

But in the end, he just gets used to this situation.

However, being used to such a thing wasn't supposed to be a good thing.

But life had made things this way.

And in the end, he came out of his room with a simple shirt and pants.

He didn't bother putting anything fancy on him since there wasn't any point in that.

No one was paying attention to him anyway, so he might as well be comfortable in his clothes.

Haste walked for about five minutes before finally coming to the dining room.

"Haste, why are you late like this?" His father immediately said the moment he saw his son enter the dining room. Haste's father had black hair like him and his brother, but his eyes were completely green, like his brother too.

"We waited for you for so long," Her mother added. She had light brown hair with beautiful blue eyes, exactly like him.

"I apologize for being late," Haste simply said, not even bowing to them before taking the seat that was at his brother's side.

The table was a long rectangular table. His father was sitting at the end of the table while his mother was sitting by his side. His brother sat in front of his mother, so Haste had nobody in front of him.

"How disrespectful," His father said before beginning to eat.

He wanted to slap Haste, but he kept his cool to eat in all serenity.

Since the head had begun eating, everyone began eating too.

However, Haste's problem just began.
