Ginny was startled by the sudden attack but she wasn't surprised, in fact, she should have been prepared after finding out that Lawrence was back in the village. She struggled against his hold, if she wasn't hiding her identity as a siren, she would have sung a melody so strong that this man would have gone crazy right at this very moment but she couldn't—— the silence of the forest, the ruffling sound of the hiding birds and the soft crunch of the grass under the feet of the animals who were trying to hide their presence told her that the forest wasn't as silent as it looked.
Something dangerous was hiding in there or maybe someone.
Lawrence twisted her wrist and slammed her against a tree that was drained out of its vitality due to the dark mist that swirled around this wasteland every morning. " Sooooo?" He dragged his 'o' nice and slow as he grinned down at her maniacally. " You thought that complaining to the authority will stop me? Didn't you honey?"
If she was being honest then —— No, she knew that no official in this wasteland lived an honest life. Give them an extra loaf of bread and they might even let you go with murder. Food wasn't a necessity but a luxury here, only the rich had the right connections to get a decent meal on their tables. She was pretty certain that being the thug of this territory, Lawrence must have stored enough food in his house, at least enough to bribe an official.
" Still not saying anything, are you?" said Lawrence as he reached his hand to touch her face, Ginny turned her head, covering her face with the veil of her platinum blonde locks. She has been long disgusted by this man who was standing in front of her, he approached her as a friend, and she being the naive fool she was believed all the lies that he spouted in front of her, and she let her get in her life, her house and this man tried to take advantage of that—— just disgusting.
" Ah, I forgot that you are a little mute," sniggered Lawrence as he knotted his fingers in her hair and pulled her face back so that she was facing him. " But you are a real fast of snitch despite being a mute, got me in real trouble, didn't you? What did you offer the officer anyway? He wasn't happy letting me go, I have to empty half of my storage to bribe him, hmm?"
Ginny bit her lips, his grip was hurting her so badly that she wanted to cry out but if she even dared to make a sound at this moment, the man might return with an even stronger obsession for her because that was the power of Sirens. Even the slightest sound was so alluring that a man would want to listen to it more and more.
Lawrence was this obsessed with her because she was foolish enough to look him in the eyes, if only she hadn't done that… she shouldn't have trusted him. He reached for her glasses that were too big for her small palm-size face and her entire body stiffened, as her struggle turned even stronger——— no, don't look at her eyes, she didn't want him to come to her anymore because of his obsession.
" Stay still, I just want one look at those charming red eyes of yours, so pretty …just like the finest wine," whispered Lawrence, his voice misty and hazy, like that of a drunken man.
Ginny shook her head. No, she cannot let him look her in the eyes, her existence was made to allure men. To take them into pleasure so sweet before sinking them in the deepest pit of hell, that wasn't what she was —— she wasn't her mother!
" Don't you f*cking move! Can't you hear me! Make another move and I will take your eyes out of your sockets here and now," snapped Lawrence finally snatching the glasses off her face. He pinched her chin and with a desire that he couldn't hide, leered at her face, realising what he was doing Ginny went to shut her eyes but then he wrapped his hand around her throat choking her. " Don't you dare to close your eyes, I have been dying to see these gems ever since I laid my eyes on them."
With her air cut off, Ginny gasped instinctively opening her eyes and meeting with Lawrence's blue ones. " Ahh, would you look at that, such fine red eyes ——even finer than a bottle of wine. Just one look and I feel like I am getting drunk on them …. Say, Vanessa —— you don't really want these eyes, don't you? They are such a waste on you—— you hide them behind such thick glasses, give them to me … I will adore them…"
As Lawrence's disgustingly obsessed face came closer to her, Ginny's fear intensified. She opened her mouth to call for help, right now she didn't care if her identity was found out. She will rather kill everyone present in the forest and run away with her father than lose her eyes. What will happen to her father if something happened to her——
"Um——" she barely opened her mouth when the thundering sounds of paws smashing against the ground echoed inside the forest and before she knew it… two black wolves jumped at Lawrence, dragging him away from her.
Finally able to breathe Ginny slid down to the ground and she breathed heavily.
She was still alive. Thank God, she was still alive.
"My, My what kind of rat have you two caught?" A voice as cold as the dark mist that surrounded the Black Forest, resonated in the silent clearing. Ginny stiffened not because she knew the owner of the voice but because the voice belonged to a man—— that alone made him, her enemy. She hurriedly patted the ground looking for her glasses, not daring to raise her head and look at the man without her glasses.
Just as she was getting frustrated upon her failure of not finding her glasses, a muscular yet lean hand reached out and stopped right in front of her face. " Here you go, miss."
Damn it!
