"Take cover, now!" a soldier roared as the flames started to hit the dry ground with force. Jane peeked a little and her eyes locked on a group of men that were wandering around the trenches. She took a deep breath and took aim. They were only around 200 meters away and the wind speed was calm. Easy targets, Jane thought. The blasts of gun sounds and the constant mini earthquakes caused by artilleries made her to really pissed about her enemies.
As she took her first shot, Colonel John appeared out of nowhere. "What's happening?" John asked. Jane aimed in on her scope and replied," The men are retreating." The Liberators were not giving up on the battlefield and they had been sending waves after waves of soldiers. However, the Liberators seem too calm after the bombing. "Careful, they are about to use a human wave," John said.
John was right. The Liberators charged upon the battlefield which became unsuccessful due to the use of land mines and machine gunners. "Take aim!" the Captain exclaimed. Jane loaded in 5 bullets into her rifle magazine. She took a small breath, aim,and fire. Reload. Aim. Fire. Repeat. "Sniper! Get Down!" one of the Liberators soldiers exclaimed. Jane looked at her heated rifle. It was not good. She had been rapid firing it for 3 days and with the intense heat, the rifle was not in the best state.
She grabbed her rifle and jumped to the 2nd trench and waited. After another fifteen minutes, the first wave ended. Jane sat back and tried to get a little sleep. Her regiment had protected the battleground for a week straight without any reinforcement. Sleep was hard, since the whole world around her was exploding. Sleep finally came due to exhaustion and she passed out.
When Jane finally woke up, it was in the evenings and the crows were crowding around dead bodies, picking up intestines. She carefully stood up and glanced around. The CIP were cooking and most soldiers were taking a rest. John was nowhere to be seen. Jane stood up and took a stretch. The Liberators were camping on the other side of the battleground and they were cooking too. Jane wanted to shoot one of the men on the other side but then decided not to for it is not honorful to do so. Even though they were her enemies, she respected them. They wouldn't give up on the small hill that the CIP were guarding no matter what casualties they were having.
She walked around the frontlines and examined all the casualties and damages. "Feels like they are in control, don't it?" Jane jumped and looked behind her. "Scared the sh!t outta me, Felix. What you doing?" Jane asked. Felix handed her a potato from his pocket. "Didn't see you at all this morning. What happened?" Felix said as he chomped on a harden potato. "Random firing like usual of course." she paused, "Felix, do you believe the CIP have forgotten about us?" Jane asked in horror," We are running low on supplies and our men are dying but they are still not sending reinforcement..." Felix shook his head and laughed, "Shall we be worried? You are White Wolf, one of our best marksman from our boot camp!" then walked away to the Medic Tent. Jane smiled and bit into her potato. She knew he was worried too. That night, Jane volunteered to be a patrol since she had enough sleep. All that was in her mind was two things. Either they finish the battle or they retreat. Jane was never expecting another choice that awaited for her.
"Damn y'all useless," Lieutenant General Max roared," Two artilleries. Five tanks. Four Thousand Men. And you still can't take them down?!" The captains lowered their heads silently. Max took a look on the map. "They have the upper hand I know that. But why not let us have a different way of attacking?" Max said, silently almost to himself. As he examined the map, a small river bank near the hill caught his attention. "Tomorrow, Captain Henry, take your men to the river side. As for you, Mr. I Think I Could Do Anything, you take all your explosives and fired it on this hill. When the CIP retreat, we can attack them on the water way. They must give up on their weapons in order to pass this river. The easiest time for us to attack." The captains saluted and hurried out the tent. Max took a deep breath. The camp stank of blood and feces but it's been a week and everyone's used to it. He stared at the CIP camp that was about 300 yards away. I will take you down, he thought as he went to get a bowl of soup.
